Had an awesome experience at the oar house this weekend. Got to sit at the bar and taste some new creations from the bartender. Was really cool watching the experimentation and getting a first glance at the upcoming drinks. Snagged a couple of photos ??

We went to The Oar House Sat night . The atmosphere is really beautiful and very representative of being in Portsmouth . It’s quiet and so easy to talk to each other comfortably. Both of our dinners were exceptional with perfect flavoring and good size portions . I got the baked cracker haddock with a great lemon sauce on perfect roasted potatoes. So good . My husband got scallops with coconut risotto which was equally amazing . Great cocktails and for dessert we split the chocolate torte which was so decadent . Every time we go there the service is perfect and the good wonderful ! We can’t wait to go back !Parking: The parking lot is right next to the restaurant and so convenient .

Second time in and returned for another wild berry mule which we dreamt about since coming in December and having one then. This time trued the calamari which was delicious. Definitely go for Elton's marvelous mixology skills.

Went there last summer. The view is spectacular, the waitstaff were very attentive and made some great drink ideas. The baked stuffed lobster IS the best I've ever had from ANY restaurant.They didn't skimp on the ingredients and didn't add any vegetable fillers as many restaurants do. We didn't care about the price because you get what you pay for.We ate at the outside deck with an awesome atmosphere.From entrance to exit, this place was amazing.

A truly wonderful experience, the atmosphere very pleasant, the food very fresh and served in a reasonable time. It is very normal that when you find a place where the food is good, the service takes too long due to the high demand of the place, but in this case it was not like that since They attended to us very quickly and the attention of the staff was unmatched. They were always very attentive if we needed anything. In short, I highly recommend it.Vegetarian options: All options were very appealing.

Please be careful regarding disclosing credit card info over the phone if you call to make a reservation. I called the evening prior at 7:30 to make a reservation at which point I was asked for my cc info. I expressed that I feel uncomfortable giving that info to make a reservation at which point I was told I can call and cancel beforehand and not be charged. Today my date canceled because she didn’t have a sitter and I called as soon as i learn she canceled. I thought it was a two minute convo pretty clear cut. I was met with resistance and rude service stating even though I made my appointment less than 24 hours they have a 24 hour policy and would charge me a fee. I was told literally the opposite and there was not getting through that you must disclose to patrons that if they make a reservation less than 24 hours times and cancel they will be charged no matter what. I was legit looking forward to coming here and it would have been my first time but dealing with that really was not necessary because I had to call my bank and state the card was comprise because it felt like a aggressive hostile way to do business. I could have been a regular patron and the restaurant would make more money off me now I won’t ever consider going there and share this experience.

Celebrated my husband‘s birthday on a Monday night when most other places are closed. Had a fantastic dinner with the most gracious service (thank you Elton!) the filet was cooked perfectly (thank you chef) and we especially loved the potatoes au gratin. Highly recommend the martini with blue cheese, olives, and not too dry.Parking: Well, Monday nights are easy. Free after 8pm.
