The food, service and ambience at Puddle Dock was good. However the cost of the meal was definitely on the highest level. My feeling is that the quality of the food did not meet the price of the food. If I am paying top dollar than I want top dollar on all fronts, I don't feel Puddle Dock provided that back to me.

Another terrific dining experrience at Puddle Dock, one of our favorite restaurants in Portsmouth. Service was quick, attentive and good natured. Food was the usual first rate expereince. We like the the menue is full of unusual items. I began with the Straberry Banke Harvest Toast, a small but exceptional combination of roasted asparagus (grown thin and cut into bites), sweet roasted garlic,creamy goat cheese, and a cured egg yolk (my first) drizzled with honey. Visually well done and tasty. I had the duck breast, one of my favoriate main course. My wife had the cottage pie, the stand out feature of which is the rich sauce the beef is cooked in. If you haven't been to Puddle Dock, do yourself a favor. Whether it is the outstanding Yorkshire Pudding app, the salted cod entree, or the many other delightful menu items, the value for the excellent fare and care is all in your favor. Bon appetit.

The Puddle Dock is a MUST experience. WOW! The food was 5 stars and we will be going back as soon as we are in Portsmouth again. Compliments to the chef(s) and the entire staff. Tip - don't skip dessert.

Food is absolutely delicious service is great and the whole atmosphere is delightful.
My husband and received a gift certificate here from my sister so we went for our first anniversary last night, Dec. 11th. Everything exceeded our expectations. The cozy Christmas feel, the fireplace, the service, the food, the drinks, were all exquisite. I cannot wait to go back, and this will forever be a special place now for us. I never leave reviews but I just had to rush here today to let everyone know how amazing our experience was!

I was thoroughly impressed with our service this evening at the Puddle Dock. We arrived when the doors opened and we were immediately seated for our reservation. What I loved most was quickly entering the kitchen area to get to our table, it was all so professional and clean. Our service was outstanding and the courses were timed well. They had the best mussels I've ever tasted! The Lemon Blueberry Pavlova was excellent too. We would definitely come back after or before a performance at Player's Ring again!

My seared scallops were tainted and uncooked. The waitress had someone come to the table when I complained the food was uncooked and had a bad taste. He was probably the manager. He did not introduce himself. . He apologized and I ordered something else. I think he should have given me a discount but I was charged full price.

My husband and I went to the Puddle Dock Restaurant last night for the first time, I had made reservations for his birthday dinner, and we just loved it. Everything from the food, to the service, and the cocktails was on point. Our server, Jess was fantastic, she was knowledgeable and so on top of everything. We will definitely be back!
