I took my girlfriend to the restaurant because she had never visited it before . She showed up on time and was seating right away . The ambience was nice looking over Market Street and the salt pile as she noted . We decided to order off the main menu which was very limited . She ordered an appetizer then our meals . I had the 12 oz. sirloin with no option but french-fries and a vegetable and she ordered the scallop plate which was an embarrassment.

A nice, relaxing restaurant environment inside a Sheraton hotel. A heads up... the menu on their official website did not match what's on their actual menu in the restaurant when we were there. My boyfriend and I had looked at the online menu prior to deciding what restaurant to go to in town and already decided what we wanted to try based off the menu information online. The server mentioned that the restaurant do not have most of the food items available from what was listed on their official website, but the menu on OpenTable was more accurate. However, I thought the choices from their in-house menu were still great options. Originally, my boyfriend ordered the diver scallops entree, but then was told a few minutes later that the kitchen was out of scallops. My boyfriend had to take more time to figure out what he wanted for an entree as he was slightly disappointed when his choices (from the online menu and scallops) were not available. Our server tried to be as accommodating as possible though by suggesting other seafood entrees that the kitchen can do that's not on the menu but had the ingredients. My boyfriend didn't want to deal with further complications so he ordered the fish and chips. The fish itself was a big portion. The batter was quite salty, but the fish was moist and cooked nicely. I had the mushroom gnocchi which had a great amount of mushrooms and spinach with the gnocchi. The gnocchi has a nice crisp on the outside with a pillowy softness inside. Flavorful dish! If you plan on going to this restaurant after seeing their menu options online, then be aware that it is possible the restaurant may not be offering the same options currently.

What a disappointment! We booked the "special" Christmas brunch - available only 3 Sundays in December!" We expected decorations, live music, a beautiful room, SPECIAL! And what we got was the feel of a low-end chamber of commerce meeting in March. We will go to the Wentworth next year.

Busy Saturday night and only one server for entire dining room. Crab cake with slaw very tasty combination of flavors. Unfortunately the "award winning" clam chowder did not agree with my dining companion's stomach the next day due to the overpowering amount of smoked bacon in the chowder. My French onion soup was very good, although not the prettiest to look at when presented. No room for dessert.

This is located inside the hotel. That was not immediately obvious to us when we made our reservation. We walked around a few times and didn't see it initially. Food was good, definitely somewhere worth eating at.

For hotel accommodations not bad. As a restaurant, in general, there still needs to be work done. Myself and a couple locals lost our traditional breakfast spot to the local economic conditions and we've been searching for a replacement. We want a place that serves a sit down meal on a plate and that is open at 7:00 am. That's a hard get in Portsmouth. Especially the open at 7:00. Two-Fifty covers those bases. The downside is the food quality and the cost. The food is your typical Sysco foods fare that focuses on the least expensive, partially prepared food instead of quality raw food sourced locally. If the prices were lower or the food quality higher, this would be a gem.The wait staff are very attentive and professional. The restaurant is clean and the view is great looking out over the river. The only gripe is food quality for cost. If they could work on that, this would be much more than just a convenience for hotel guests. The last few weeks we've gone, there have only been a few others that stop for breakfast. Mostly hotel guests, of course. But this place could be filled up, at least on the weekends, with just a few tweaks.

This review was for Thanksgiving Dinner. Food options were plenty, which was good. There are a lot of standard holiday options and other options as well. Dessert was definitely beat part with many pies and other things. The price was decent, especially compared to other restaurants, but still a lot considering it is a buffet. The dinner was in a giant ballroom, so ambiance is not that of the actual restaurant. Overall decent, and everyone enjoyed.

A lunch of soup, salad dessert an tea for over $100. Is over-priced Chowder with tiny minced clams and very salty, no potatoes. Cob salad with lots of lettuce Small dinner roll with salad-extra $1.00 $4.50 each for small scoop of ice cream on deserts. Nancy Donovan

My wife, adult daughter (chef), and I had a terrible experience at this restaurant this evening. The clam chowder was good. Both my wife and daughter ordered a bowl and enjoyed it. The bao was also pretty good. However, I ordered the fish sandwich. After a few bites I could smell ammonia - a tell tale sign that fish has gone bad. I talked to the server who brought the plate to the chef. The server came back and told us the chef said the fish came in fresh this morning. The chef obviously is not well versed in customer service not food safety. The crab cakes also had an off taste and my daughter would not eat them. After offering us a free dessert (we declined), I paid the check (in its entirety... yes, I paid for spoiled fish. I did leave a generous gratuity as this issue had nothing to do with our server, who was very pleasant). As I write this review with a very upset stomach, please do not eat here. If you do chose to eat in this restaurant, please dine carefully and inspect your meals. Restaurants are rarely lacking in food safety in one area. If they don't have a safety mindset, it will be pervasive. I may call the health inspector since I feel pretty ill.

Came to the Sheraton on a get away and decided to stay in and get food at the hotel restaurant. Let me tell you this did NOT disappoint! At first when I saw the price I was worried at almost $30 that it would not be worth the price. I was WRONG that piece of fish was huge. It was extremely fresh, flaky, and that crust was perfectly crispy. If I am ever up there again even if I don't stay at that hotel I may have to go there for the food

Celebrated a graduation lunch here recently and wow! The bartender (Brad) if phenomenal and can make a drink!! The waitress was outstanding. Our party was large (16), and every single order was brought out at the same time, was hot, and place in front of the correct person. I had a Blueberry Jam Mojito (ok I had 2), and it was delicious! Beautiful farmhouse style tables, nice view and all around excellent experience!
