Not Castaways any more. It changed owners and is call ERNIE'S . Has mostly seafood. On the noisy side but food was good. Nice outside seating area..was not open when we were there due to weather. Has a firepit and Deck bar. Awesome views.

1. We have been coming here for the past 5 years. Initially they offered a prime rib with one whole lobster for $37.00. Now with Inflation, fair enough I understand. The food had always been pretty good.2. We went back this year like we always do and I’m sorry to say the food was absolutely terrible. The steamers seemed like they had been undercooked and left out. My wife nearly vomited when we left. We didn’t finish them. My $40.00 seafood Alfredo tasted stale, particularly the lobster. The crabmeat in my wife’s lobster ravioli also tasted stale. Overall it was $120 for two people and the food was absolutely terrible. Just talking about the meal after dinner made my wife come close to vomiting. The next morning she felt terribly sick and was worried about food poisoning (even though it wasn’t).The appetizer came out in less than 15 minutes and the entrées came out 10 minutes after that. It was as if the food had been microwaved and they were just trying to rush us out of there. After five years of consistency we will not be going back again. Brown’s Lobster Pound is right down the road and they offer extremely fresh food for the same price. If you’re going to spend that much you deserve a certain quality and Castaways is far from it. Good day to you castaways. Wish I could get my money back.
My husband, stepson, and I came to Rye Beach to celebrate my birthday. I'm happy we started on the beach because had my dining experience here been my first stop I would have gone home with a ruined birthday.I don't know what was more disgusting, the food or the elderly GM clearly flirting with his underage waitresses. The menu doesn't accurately describe what the food really is. You end up paying unreasonable prices for frozen processed food. We will never come here again.
View from deck was beautiful. Seafood Alfredo was plentiful in seafood and very tasty. Lobster pie was overcooked. Baked haddock was sub par. Fried haddock breading was mushy and the portion was the size of a deck of cards. Bloody Marys were terrible. Definitely not worth visiting due to the portion sizes and the very poor quality of the meals for the price.
Way overpriced. Clam chowder tasted like I was eating raw clam. Onion rings were raw. Lobster in the lobster roll tasted dirty. Coleslaw tasted like straight up vinegar. The castaway burger was burnt. This restaurant is definitely a thumbs down I will never go back. It made my whole family feel sick. Gave my brother a shaken up soda.
Our usual stop after a day at the beach. Great food, service and view. Have tried different food options and it never disappoints.
Good place to eat while you are the beach. Beautiful views while your sitting waiting for your food.Great drinks!!!

Located right near Hampton Beach and in a beautiful location on the harbor, this restaurant is large and really should be bustling but on the night we went, it was empty. On a Tuesday night in late August, there was only one party inside the restaurant and we were the 2nd party seated outside on the deck. My friend had a coconut mojito and said it had no coconut flavor at all. When we asked the server if the correct mojito had been ordered, the server said “Yeah. She doesn’t make them very good. I don’t like them either.” We both ordered the baked haddock which came with rice pilaf & sautéed summer vegetables. The food was very good ( the veggies were excellent). There seemed to be only 1 server working with several bus/support staff. The view was beautiful but the prices are high. After we ate, we walked to the 2nd floor deck. Expansive lovely views but the deck isn’t being used & has definitely seen better days (the bar top was all warped and lifting up). There is also an area outside, a flight down from the restaurant deck, that has chairs, corn hole and fire pits. Off to the side on the ground, we did notice the large jug of Round Up that had been left there. This place could do with a little TLC if they are to justify the prices.
My son and I stopped by for dinner, having spent the day at Salisbury Beach. Parking is an issue at the restaurant, as there are limited spaces. The service is excellent. Very quick and attentive. The atmosphere is fantastic, with great views of the water. The food is extraordinary, and I cannot stress how perfect it was prepared. I ordered the Fisherman’s platter, and I honestly cannot remember when the food was this fresh. Outstanding dinner experience!
LAME! Went with a party of 5 and had quite the experience. It was a Tuesday night, barely anyone there. We ordered a 40 dollar of wine and was brought two visibly dirty glasses. We had to scrape off whatever white bits were caked on the inside. When we asked for clean glasses she brought back two DIRTIER glasses and left the first pair on the table.Apps: tasteless, thin onion rings and "a pound and a half" (oh please!) of steamers.Once we received the food we had to ask for silverware.Meal 1: Grilled salmon. It tasted good but the whole plate was cold.. The potatoes were clearly microwaved and tasted pretty yucky. Toss on a few pieces of squash and you got yourself a 30 dollar plate lolMeal 2: Tuna burger was fine. Was given the wrong side which was a stale plate of mashed potatoes meant for someone else at the table.Meal 3: side of mashed potatoes. Pretty terrible tasting and only vaguely resembled mashed potatoes.Meal 4: Seafood Alfredo: not worth the price ($40) rubbery shrimp and the mussels weren't even touched. They looked really bad.Meal 5: steak tips, ordered medium rare came WELL done. It was all really underwhelming and the experience was hilariously bad. The view was nice though! They should train their staff and I'm sure things would turn around but it felt like everything was really sad.
Pretty good fish, pretty bad burgers. But let's face it, if you go to a place on the seacoast called Castaways and you order a burger, you're rolling the dice. The service was inviting and attentive, but of course we got there as soon as they opened, so it could be different during the rush. The drinks menu was pretty extensive, and my wife got a frozen mango margarita, which she described as "yummy". Two of us got the fried haddock, which was delicious. Two of us, however, got cheeseburgers, which weren't. One of the burgers was the charred memory of beef, and both came with homemade potato chips which were left largely untouched. It's a tad overpriced ($140 for four lunches and two cocktails, including tip), but it's the seacoast, so some tourist trap markup is to be expected and not really worth complaining about. We'll go back, but next time, we'll all get seafood.
My family went with a reservation of 15 people. No parking in the lot while the restaurant was basically empty, they were out of a few things our party ordered and forgot some drinks. We were in line with the employees only door and one waitress stood in the doorway with the door open and was vaping in front of all of us. This used to be our favorite family dinner spot every year but we won’t be back
