The food was excellent! Mushroom ravioli, crème brûlée, French toast, Airline chicken, shrimp with grilled vegetables... everything delicious!
Tasty dishes, appropriately creative without being fussy. Lovely setting for a romantic evening. Pretty good sized portions. Very good value.
We had a lovely meal. Service was prompt, professional and friendly. The food was expertly prepared.
Had the dining room to myself the nite I went. I ordered the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin, which cut like butter, with an absolutely outstanding Marsala sauce. Delicious bread. Grateful for a nice, light sorbet offering for dessert. Breakfast the next morning was stuffed french toast and crispy bacon which was made to order accompanied by homemade scones.
The food was excellent. The Oyster chowder was about the best I ever had. The Ceasar salad was nice & fresh. I liked the fact the dressing was on the side, so I was able to determine how much I wanted to add in. My Sirloin was done perfectly. I really enjoyed the red wine reduction. For dessert we did both the Raspberry Sorbet & the Brownie Sundae. Both were great. Good to see Chef Val & his staff really hitting their stride. Basically, I feel he's about the best chef in the White Mtn. region.
Chef Val does not disappoint. His food is excellent! Very fresh and the presentation beautiful. He came out to visit with us which was very nice as we have enjoyed dining at his restaurant for the past three years before he closed it in July (Timber Alley in Littleton NH) . Chef Val's cuisine is why we visited the restaurant. Our server was wonderful as well. She was vey attentive and pleasant. We had a wonderful dining experience, and I would recommend!
We were staying at Sugar Hill Inn for the weekend so booked in advance for the 4 course meal experience and paid quite a bit for it. I don't mind spending money for quality and their website suggested that they got quite busy for dinner so it was best to book in advance. So--I did. I love Bed and Breakfasts and am generally pleased to take their recommendations. Well, when we arrived, apparently, the Inn no longer offers these "4 course meal experiences"--even though I had just booked a couple of weeks prior. And the dining room was half empty or more so I needn't have booked this (non) experience in advance. the 4 course meal was probably double what I would have spent if I had known better and just ordered what I wanted from the menu. The food was good. The LARGE amuse bouche of braised duck was outstanding and absolutely first class. The rest of the food was good--not great but good enough. Our waitress, Hope, was outstanding in every way. This Inn is lucky to have her. The other staff we met seemed completely clueless about both the Inn and how to work in a service industry. I think the Sugar Hill Inn is past it's prime. They either need to up their game or lower their prices. I would suggest that you spend your dining time in nearby Littleton--Sour's Taverna was 20/10 on the food scale and I was told that other restaurants in the town are also outstanding.
A lovely inn with classic New England charm and excellent cuisine from a notable local chef.
Four of us had dinner at the Sugar Hill Inn on Saturday, Feb 22, 2025. Food was excellent; cooked appropriately, excellent presentation. Server was attentive but never hovering. Drinks and dessert well done, and the atmosphere quiet and relaxing. This is our go to restaurant for those special birthday and anniversary celebrations.
If you are looking for a New England experience where you feel like you are a member of the community for your stay, then this is the place for you! The rooms are clean and the floors are squeaky but overall the place is full of rustic charm. What really made this experience one of a kind for us was the chef who cooked us breakfast. We unfortunately never got his name before we left but breakfast was outstanding all 3 days! As we were there in a slow time of year there were just 2 couples in the dining room and he came out each morning to ask what we wanted for breakfast. Beyond that he chatted with us and gave us local recommendations. The people are what set experiences apart for us and this has been one of our favorite experiences so far. We look forward to coming back soon!

Sugar Hill Inn is in a beautiful spot, with easy access to the national forests! The breakfast was fantastic, the chef was great. The atmosphere is cozy. We came at what I assume is a slower time in the year, so I don't expect it will be quite the same experience as everyone; however, we went to the service desk every day- no one was there. We called, no answer. We were told we could tour two rooms after they couldn't put us in our original cottage due to some issues. Which, was fine, our cottage was nice. Just was expecting to view both. We wanted to schedule dinner, but again, didn't get a chance to due to not ever being able to get ahold of anyone. Other than these few issues, which again, I'm sure isn't normal, and has more to do with the timing- it is a charming inn, and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to enjoy New Hampshire's beauty.

The Richardson suite was very lovely. We loved the tub and king size bed. Our only negative experience was the public bathroom is right outside the door and a very busy one at that. We didn’t feel as private as we would have liked being it’s a romantic suite we booked to celebrate our anniversary… there was a library and chess board right outside the room which was occupied until 10pm with noisy guests.
It‘s a scam. We booked a cottage for one night (and a lot of money) and the room looked completely different from the pictures. In the pictures, there was lovely furniture, fresh flowers and a very elegant interior. In real, all the furniture was different, old, dark and cheap. We didn’t even have the curtains from the pictures on booking.com and the hotel website. When we went to the reception to receive an explanation, nobody was there. Very disappointing.

Well...I was so excited to stay here. Reviews led me to believe I was in for a treat, so I spent more to stay here than ANY OTHER B&B on my 3-week trip (about $350). I knew I was in trouble the minute I got there.
"Mike," the maintenance guy, took over 30 minutes to get me checked in. I chalked it up to the popularity of the place. No. He was just sorta lost. He DID tell me he was also the bartender & old fashions were his specialty, so I ordered and paid for one. It was HORRIBLE! Basically, sugar water.
When I got to my cabin, I couldn't get lights to turn on. Turns out that only one of them had a working light bulb. Mike came down and was able to get 2 of the 3 changed out & working, but gave up on the 3rd.
I also told him that the mechanism for the blinds was stripped & they couldn't close for privacy, AND the curtains weren't large enough to pull across & cover the windows. He told me it was ok, that no one would look in. WHAAAAAT??? NOT very reassuring. (The curtains near the bed were big enough, but you had to climb up onto the bed to reach the curtain pole to close them.)
It was unseasonably hot, so I turned on the window air conditioner to try & combat the additional heat coming from the stove, which emits heat whether you want it to or not. The air unit was SO LOUD (and shook the whole window frame violently!) I gave up & went to bed hot.
The next morning, I went down to breakfast. There was a sweet option, and an egg option. I'm a protein girl for breakfast, but the egg option had tomatoes & I'm sadly allergic. The server said they could just scramble a couple eggs & I was delighted. I waited...and waited...and watched as other who came after me were served. But the coffee was good and the downtime welcomed. Finally, my breakfast came. I took a bite and found completely cold eggs. I couldn't get a server's attention. When I finally did, she sad, "Wow, " and walked away. I was stunned.
Overall, it was a terrible experience and, as stated earlier, cost me more than ANY of my other beautiful/historic B & B stays in Mass, Maine, NH, Vermont, or New York. Such a disappointment.
