We had such a great experience at Kiku! I took my niece for hibachi and she had a blast. She was a little scared when the fire flared up, but she couldn’t stop smiling and ended up loving every minute of it. The chef was entertaining, the food was delicious, and the whole atmosphere made it a fun, memorable night. We’ll definitely be back!

They should hire more inviting / friendly receptionist. Receptionist came up to me while I walked in and ask if I want to eat certain dish without directing me to my table. I've never in my life ask that question at any restaurant:) Lingerling Clorox odor but taste of their cod broth soup over ride all above complains. It's that good^^

The service here was absolutely unacceptable. We waited over an hour without receiving our food, with zero explanation or updates from the staff. We were literally left sitting there doing nothing. To make matters worse, the person claiming to be the manager was extremely rude and unprofessional, showing no interest in resolving the issue or even offering a basic apology. This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had, and I will never be coming back.

Sat at 6:45 and waited for nearly 40 minutes. After repeated inquiries we finally got salad and soup at 8:05. It's now 9:24 and they just came to drop off a check. I can understand being short staffed or having a new server, but based on other reviews the service is a serious issue. Thankfully our chef and the food was tremendous!!! Be patient and prepared for a rocky start. Shout out to Chef Mike for saving the evening!!!

My son and friends went there for dinner last early evening 12/31/25 and had the worst experience.
Food was below par, no sauces available
Service was awful nasty rude and dismissive
It’s like they were bothered to have 15 people there to spend their money.
Do not go to this place. Save your money

my daughter and her friends went at 6pm 12-31-25 with 15 people the owner was rude and the waitress was mean they asked for sauce they said they didn’t have any then they checked everyone’s id all 15 people were 21-22 years old after first round they cut all of them off and said they weren’t 21 they all had real nj 21 year old id’s also asked if they can take a picture of the group they said no then wouldn’t move out of the way for the picture wouldn’t go back also was there last year and a cockroach ran across the grill i didn’t say anything bc that’s how i am but now since this horrible service screw them look at posted pic waitress would not move next time its mount fuji

The absolute worst dining experience of my life. Zero stars if I could give it. My family and I went to Kiku in Alpine, NJ looking for a fun hibachi dinner, and instead, we got a lesson in how not to run a restaurant.
We were quoted a wait time that turned into an inexcusable, sanity-testing two-hour marathon. Every 10 minutes—like clockwork—a staff member would promise our table was just about ready. It was a complete farce and a masterclass in disorganization. The waiting area was a chaotic mess, with no clear system or communication, just repeated empty promises.
When they finally, finally, called our name, the disaster continued. They tried to seat our party at a broken hibachi table! It took another argument and delay to get us to an actual, usable spot. But the service, or total lack thereof, was the real insult.
After being seated, it took an additional 30 minutes for someone to even approach the table to take our drink order. And when they did, they managed to mess it up completely. The final, horrifying straw was when they actually handed an alcoholic beverage to one of my underage children. This is not just bad service; it's a serious and dangerous lapse in judgment.
Avoid this place at all costs. Waiting two hours, being lied to repeatedly, dealing with broken equipment, and then receiving unsafe and abysmal service is simply not worth anyone's time or money.
Reservation was at 6 it’s now 8:45 and we still haven’t even ordered dinner !!!

Absolutely terrible experience. We called ahead and were told it would be a 20-minute wait — it turned into two full hours. When we finally sat down, they put us at a hibachi table that didn’t even work, then moved us again, and we just sat there with no service. There was zero urgency, zero apology, and no sense that anyone cared. When a waitress finally showed up, she told us there was no sushi. After wasting that much time, we walked out completely frustrated. Hands down one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. Go elsewhere. Anywhere but here.

Kiku Alpine is outstanding! A spacious, local gem with high quality, fresh food. Hibachi chef Christian delivers a great table side performance — neat, quick, and very personable. Truly delicious!

Never get the chicken here. 5 ounces for $28. Also if you ask to sub vegatables for rice they will charge you an extra $5 without telling you which makes no sense. They get 2 stars because the food is tasty, but doesn’t make sense to be paying more than Manhattan prices for hibachi all the way in New Jersey..

Absolutely worst place!! Save your money & go elsewhere because you won’t even be able to sit most of the time! They treat you like you’re bothering them when you walk in to ask for a table. Came there with my son and they shot me away saying they couldn’t seat me, it was too late. It was 8:00PM mind you they close at 10!! Horrible horrible will never be back again
