It was the end of the year and they mostly were mailing it in. They only served outside, it was chilly and they kept the fans inexplicably on which made it uncomfortable. I had the swordfish special which was incredibly salty and totally over-priced. The wasabi Tuna was a good dish. The servers were great but the experience was really different than they usually deliver.

Yummy alligator appetizer! Seriously, it tasted like chicken. Loved my entree... shrimp and scallops with pasta in a “Rosa” sauce. DELISH! As always, I look forward to the next time.

Worst experience! We were a table of 8 last night. The service was very slow, of course with the lack of workers available this was expected. What wasn't expected was the water logged salad that poured like soup. We sent it back and was told it was probably water drip from refrigerator. Our meals came for 3 followed by 2 more about 10 min later then another one 5 min later and the last one was finally served mushy soft shell crab. Our waitress took our order and then disappeared with other tables and had nothing but excuses for any of the issues we dealt with. We tipped accordingly, we gave 18% should have been less. The waitress followed us outside complaining about her tip! That all our issues weren't her fault. She was whining about having 4 kids to take care of well guess what that isn't our fault! Talk to your boss to fix the multitude of problems this restaurant has. AND COVER YOUR PREPARED SALADS!!!!

Went from bad to worse....first time at Tonio's last week. Thought the atmosphere outside would be good for our dinner. Had great hopes of having good food. This all turned out to be wishful thinking when the first thing served, some dinner rolls, came out soggy and wet. Our original waitress took our orders and never came back again until it was time for our bill. The appetizers took 45 minutes to come out- and we are talking soup and clams. Nothing special. A waitress said it was because of take out orders, and then it was because a large party sat down.... totally unacceptable. When our salad came out, we had to send back one due to it sitting in a large amount of water; we could not believe it. I wont go thru the rest of our meals but half had no taste at all. We got our bill and gave an 18% tip, which is way more than it should have been considering the wait time, lack of professionalism by staff and unappetizing food...What made everything worse was when our party left the back sitting area to leave, the waitress followed us into the parking lot to discuss her tip.... She was not happy about getting a $50.00 tip on a $280.00 bill. WHAT!?! Management should consider retraining its staff on what is and what is not acceptable behavior. Following customers into a parking lot to gripe about a tip is not how to win over your customers...such a lack of professionalism. Needless to say, we will never return to Tonio's and I hope others take note of this review.

Pretty good. It was pouring rain and they have a very large, covered outdoor patio which kept us all dry. It’s an easy family restaurant but certainly not fine dining. The kids in our party wanted pizza and they accommodated that by getting a pie for them from their neighboring pizza restaurant, which was great. Seafood was good but broiled so covered in lots of butter, which I wasn’t a fan of. Overall, an easy BYO good for larger groups.

We have been going to Tonio’s for many years. We were very disappointed in the dinner last night. Our party was 7 and the food was not their usual. The crab cakes had lumps a bread in them. Chicken parm was not only a 5 in piece but dry. The lump crab pasta had very little crab and tasted like lemon water. We asked them if the cook was changed and they said no. Not sure what’s going on with them but I thought at least the manager would have come to us but he was to busy washing and waxing his BMW?????? .

Always great food. Have gone several times over the past few months and have always been satisfied with my meals. Fish entrees are always fresh and special menu additions are unique and well prepared. Highly recommend!

We had requested outdoor seating through opentable and even called to make sure, they said no problem. However, when we got there, they had no record of us requesting it and wanted to put us right at the entrance way of the indoor dining area. It was raining out and eventually sat us outside in a mostly covered space, next to the bathroom- no luck and it was super busy and the food took forever. The food itself was good tho so would go back but will call to make reservations next time as I think they get preference

We had a classic seashore dinner last week at Tonio's Seafood Shack in Avalon. Our hotel recommended it and they really hit the mark. The shrimp cocktail was the best we have had in years, the lobster tails were succulent and the seafood combo was delicious. Its not a shack, it is a restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside. Traditional, delicious seafood dinner. We loved it and will go back next trip.

The octopus appetizer was delicious...and big enough to share. The rest of our meal was very good. It was a very hot and humid evening. The fans under the awning helped keep the air flowing.
