Horrible experience! I was here the other night with two friends. It was around 1:00 am and the server came to our table and asked us if we wanted more drinks since the bar area would be closing soon. My one friend ordered another drink, and a few minutes after she got her drink, the staff turned on all the lights and the bouncers were literally yelling at everyone to leave! I asked if my friend could finish her drink, and they ignored us and kept yelling “let’s go!!!!” at us and all the other customers that were still there. At one point, one of the bouncers literally shined a flashlight directly in our faces and blinded us! I cursed him out. I would never come back here, they were beyond rude! They shouldn’t have sold my friend another drink if they were planning to rudely throw us out before she could finish it!
Great spot the atmosphere was amazing. My server Jackie was the best, so sweet made my time so much better. Drinks were also amazing!
Background: After making an online reservation, I called the restaurant and spoke with a male who assured me we’d be seated on the rooftop (weather permitting) and not in the dining room.
Upon arrival, we were told we didn’t have a rooftop reservation. The hostess radioed someone and then told us we could go up but would need to give the table back by 7:15.
When we reached the rooftop, we were greeted by the general manager — a short Spanish man with a left-arm tattoo and an ego the size of Belleville — who immediately told us our reservation was for the dining room. We explained that the hostess had just spoken to someone who had agreed to seat us upstairs. The manager responded rudely, telling us he was the manager and there were no tables for us up there (despite only four tables being occupied at the time). Eventually, he begrudgingly offered us a low-top table in direct sun with no umbrella — the only one without shade — and told us we’d need to leave by 7:00.
Trying to make the best of a bad situation, we ordered drinks and an appetizer.
When we requested chips and guacamole, I clearly mentioned my cilantro allergy. Less than a minute later, the guacamole was brought to the table with visible cilantro. Our waitress took it back to the bar and then to the kitchen, only to return with the same plate and tell us it was pre-made and couldn’t be prepared without cilantro. What’s especially disappointing is that when we dined here back in January, we had no issue ordering items without cilantro — the staff then was so accommodating.
Additionally, the chips and queso (which was basically water consistency) was served without salsa, which was listed as part of the dish on the menu.
By 6:24, we decided to leave — the rooftop was mostly empty — and the manager had the nerve to make a sarcastic comment like, “Oh, leaving so soon?”
This was especially disappointing because my group had such a wonderful experience here back in January. We had recommended this place to others, but after yesterday’s visit, we will not be returning.
The funny thing is, I was texting a friend who had recently gone there for drinks, telling her about my experience with the manager. Her reply was, “I know exactly who you’re talking about — Spanish, shaved head, sassy little thing.” Clearly, this is not an isolated issue. While this place has great potential, they seriously need to look into their staff and hire people with more experience in hospitality and customer service.
We had a great time. Eddy was able to make it up to us after the reservation was incorrect. We had a great time! Thank you Eddy!
Victoria was absolutely beautiful lady. She lovely and always attend to all of what she does. Personality a plus+++... We will come back just for her. Go Victoria..🥰
Victoria was amazing!!!!!
Victoria is the best , we came to celebrate a coworkers 21 st and she took care of us! Would definitely come back
will not go based on all the negative reviews. places are too expensive to take a chance.
I had a very disappointing experience at Agave in Belleville, NJ. After dining, the server charged my bank card without first showing me the receipt, which is unacceptable. I was also incorrectly charged for an extra drink—I only had two, but was billed for more. When I brought this to their attention, the manager on duty claimed he could only provide a receipt for the refund, not a corrected receipt showing the accurate total. Instead, he still presented the incorrect charge for me to sign and said they “need a newer system.” This was just a distasteful experience overall, and the lack of accountability and poor customer service was frustrating. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED! Ensure you ask for the check first before they hold your card !! & I still gave the girl a $5 buck tip. No shot on the house nothing just poor customer service !
I want to start by saying the place is very chic and the ambiance is cool. Music was great. But unfortunately the service was bad. I made a reservation for 10pm, got there on time, didn’t get a table until an hr later at 11pm. Manager didn’t come to assist until after 45 min later. Then after being seated, no servers would approach us at all. They seemed to be running around but not one stopped to get our order. We had to approach someone & get their attention. We ordered a bottle, when they brought it for us the server just handed it to me and left (meaning everywhere I’ve been the server opens the bottle in front of you, and pours the first drink). Well, I had to do that myself and on top they didn’t give us shot glasses so another wait to get that. So overall service sucked from begging to end. Not sure if I would go back.

Lovely place, I stopped going because it's a Restaurant NOT a NIGHT club, can't talk to your partner/friends because the MUSIC is so LOUD, why it really is not necessary. People are sitting around with children with the MUSIC blasting, ridiculous.
Parking: MUSIC is too loud

One of my close friends took me here for my birthday and I enjoyed myself. We sat on the rooftop, and it was an awesome experience with some great music.

Oh man, where do I begin. 10/19/24. We arrived, we walked in, bouncer was meh. We were seated at their rooftop in a corner where it was cold… they advertised “heated rooftop” yet all their heaters were in the center area of the floor. We’re seated and were told “your waiter will be with you shortly”. “Shortly” turned into 30 mins. The kind bus boy walked over to us to bring over the serving plates and waters, 35 minutes in. We were a table of 4. And no waiter came by. The poor bus boy was about to take our orders and quite frankly we felt bad we were willing to wait a little more. Why? well because they probably get paid on tips. So no one showed up, and about 45 mins have passed at this point, we left. Poor service for a place that wants to charge 16 dollars for tacos al pastor. Do yourselves a favor, you want some authentic Mexican food, go to Passaic, market street. Maybe Dona Maria restaurant… You want good music, great food and great atmosphere go to Whiskey Priest which is only 6 minutes away. You’re welcome. Google should give the option of a zero but sadly you get a 1.
