Chubby Chicks Cafe

A random lets go to brunch after church much needed time spent with my sissy was at Chubby Chicks! The vibe was great. This was a Sunday and pretty busy after church with a birthday party that came in before us, but we were served and not forgotten. Great service and great food! Enjoyed the dj as well!

Nice atmosphere, great service. The food was very good and the portions were large. Shout out to the hostess who did an excellent job. The Chef also introduced herself and made sure we were pleased.

Im so disappointed because i love to support BOB but this is something i wouldn’t recommend to anyone. Although the service was speedy and all of the staff seemed nice, the food was terrible ( my chicken wings were pink) , they didn’t have any napkins and the atmosphere was very unpleasant. Overall i give the establishment 4/10. It has potential.

Hi-Lo Taco Co – Vegan Taco Review

I stopped by Hi-Lo Taco Co to try their vegetarian/vegan taco options and a drink. Some definite standouts—and some I’d pass on next time.

Crispy Cajun Shrimp (Vegetarian) – 9/10
My personal favorite. Super savory and seasoned well. The flavor was bold without being overwhelming. I should’ve saved this one for last!

Grilled Mahi Mahi (Vegan, with orange slaw) – 5/10
This one just didn’t do it for me. The orange slaw threw the flavor off—it wasn’t appetizing to me at all. The cauliflower filling helped, but overall not a favorite.

Chicken Fajita (Vegan) – 7/10
Not bad at all, just not a standout. I was pretty full by the time I got to this one, so that may have played a part.

Troparita – 7.5/10
I told the server I liked juice and he recommended this. It was light and refreshing, but not quite sweet enough for my taste.

Overall: Great to see solid vegan taco options in a fun spot. I'd definitely return for that Cajun Shrimp taco—it was chef’s kiss. The rest were hit-or-miss depending on your flavor preferences.

We had a delightful time! The atmosphere, the drinks, the food, presentation was breathtaking! The servers were all so friendly and accommodating to us and my service animal...and we met our cook Uncle Wayne and gave him our flowers! Bravo! First of all I had the fish and fried grits...and the chicken and waffles...and the strawberry hot honey wings...oh and the fried sweet potato pie!!!! Yes I was hungry and greedy and ready to embrace my chubby! Washed it all down with a watermelon lemonade.

The place was pretty but the food was mediocre and overpriced. The presentation of the food was very nice. I had high expectations and was really disappointed. The music was way too loud, the people were loud and rowdy. I was expecting a “cozy” atmosphere, and that it was not.The service was so slow and our server was very rude to us, as if we were bothering them. I would not recommend this establishment.

I wanted to have nothing but good comments, but unfortunately I have mixed feelings 😐.
Pros: the food was good, I only had one complaint. Its the portion size for the fried fish and fried grits. It was one thin piece of swai over 2 fried grits. The presentation was good and it tast good. I must shout out the fried sweet potato pie, it was delicious.
Cons: Atmosphere. To start off the floors and especially the carpet leading to the bathroom need to be cleaned and or upgraded. I could see the design idea, but it fell short. It was too dark for a restaurant at brunch time. Lastly, the flies. We were swatting flies the whole time and it made us feel like we wanted to rush the experience to get away from those nasty pests.

This is an amazing place to eat. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. Unfortunately, they have to move because of the associations. It is sad to see cultural places being forced out the neighborhood. How can a place be noisy if they don't sell alcoholic beverages and onlz open at certain times. Yet, a bar was there before. They will be moving in a month. The chicken and waffles were awesome.

First time here and will be back with all my folks until I try everything on the menu...let me start by saying you will get full off the fish and grits no matter what your tolerance of food level is. I was greeted by a cheerful staff, my waitress was attentive, and though I only had the fish and grits, it was so good that I want to try everything else....oh, and the neo soul music kept me in my feelings...

Awesome place for birthday's and if anyone wants to impress their significant other in a private feel setting on the fancy but reasonably priced food tip....you just got to eat here!

Went there today and had a great experience! Very friendly staff fast seating menu on point! I had the the Rich Chic I believe Fried Lobster Tail and Waffles My Husband had Pancakes potatoes eggs and bacon forget the name they are all so cute and it was so pretty and he loved it great portions it’s BYOB but I didn’t know 😩staff made me aware immediately and told me I could go bring any thing I wanted back so my husband took the 2 block walk and got me some Prosecco and I ordered the Strawberry Mimosas Mock Tail added my drink and it was up DJ came out parties started and it was just nice I loved it there and will definitely go back only thing for me is I did not use the bathroom so I can’t tell y’all that part because I loves me a cute bathroom with plenty mirrors to take pics 🤣 all and all after getting the review from my Husband we had no complaints so we are giving the 10/10🫶🏾

The food was pretty good, the service was great. However the floors were so sticky and the tables were so dirty it turned me off.

I got the French toast and chicken bites. The French toast was more like a funnel cake, which I wasn’t expecting. Absolutely nothing about them gave French toast, but it still was a pleasant surprise. The syrup was…different to say the least. The chicken bites with strawberry hot honey were so tasty. My favorite part.

Now I’m not one to complain about prices, but $6 for a small wine glass of orange juice no refills and $7 for a single chicken strip cut into 5 pieces is egregious…
