The Royal is a bit like walking back in time. Place hasn't changed much over the years. It was old 30+ years ago, except now there's friendlier feeling. Could have something to do with the girls. They're all very friendly and happy. I used to go there for lunch way back in the day (like 30+ way backs) when we worked on Saturdays. Back then you had to walk over to the dinner side to order what you wanted for lunch and they would bring it over to the bar side. Started going again...read full review

Best value in Somerset County. Bar food is great at very reasonable price and great staff.

The Royal Bar is a place that feels like walking back in time. Customers can sit at the bar side or walk over to the dinner side and be brought food and drink. The massive wall menu has every version you can think of, and a fried chicken burger is a quick bite that is delicious. Jameson is served and many people say the drink is excellent and the price is down to earth. The bar has a no frills feel and a crowd that enjoys music and cheers. The staff are amazing and the service is excellent, and the bartender will even wink and make a nice joke. Seats are often taken but there are plenty of tables in the back and the area around the Royal on Route 22 is quiet and friendly. The pool tables have been closed and then reopened, and now shooters can enjoy a game in a nice game room. The Royal Bar is a golden find for anyone who wants good food, good drink, good humor and a friendly place to chill. It is a convert for many who skip other bars and come back again and again. The feel stays calm and it is easy to sit and keep enjoying.
