Fortune Cookies is tucked away, far from the hustle and bustle of the nearby mall. Don’t let the exterior fool you—this restaurant serves authentic Chinese food. The string beans (my go-to dish at every Chinese restaurant) were exceptionally well-flavored and cooked. The other dishes my partner ordered were also delicious, but the string beans definitely stood out! They were also kind enough to allow my small service dog to dine with us.

Don’t let the modest exterior fool you; this Chinese restaurant is the real deal. I heard of it from my friends at the Woks of Life, and I can see why that family has this place on their radar. The whole fish with homemade chili sauce was incredible (though not too spicy at all!) and the cold appetizers were the perfect foil. I had jelly noodles and cucumber and both were very good. You know the restaurant is authentic when boiled peanuts and tea come out right off the rip. HIGHLY recommend this place. Other diners’ food also looked and smelled very good. Wish I lived closer so I could try more! If you’re looking for General “Sows,” I’m not sure this is your spot, but if you’re looking for Hunan cuisine straight out of Changsha then give Fortune Cookies a go. Side note: I did not actually receive any fortune cookies after my meal, so set your expectations accordingly.

Favorite Chinese in the area! The dishes we always get: fish in chilli oil, cumin lamb and the shrimp lo mein. Delicious every single time

My family, friends and I have dined here often. The food and customer services are great. We never have any issues. The restaurant has been opened for 15 years for a reason. The food is not your typical American Chinese takeout. Food is authentic here with quality.

Did they change ownership or chefs? I spent $120 of takeout, ordered 6 dishes, including a sweet and sour fish, not a single dish tasted good. Everything was either bland or American style taste. I am so disappointed, after driving 2 hours back and forth and spent $120, not a single dish tasted satisfying. Their fish was deeply fried and the meat was so hard. The lamb tasted like beef, nothing like lamb. Beef tasted so bland that I had to spit it out. Noodles was not hand made, more like cheap instant noodles from the shelf. Beancurd and celery and leeks had only leeks and beancurd, very few celery, they skimp out on the more costly ingredients. This place is hopeless now.

Will never go to the place again. Utterly disappointing.

Our go to Chinese restaurant in New Jersey! Very authentic Hunan restaurant, they can make it very spicy! Get the bamboo with pork, sizzling beef, and popcorn chicken. We’ve been coming here for 8+ years!

The outside of this restaurant looks like an old house, standalone and not in a strip mall. Inside also shows age, looks like from the 80’s. Very outdated. Definitely a traditional family style Chinese restaurant. Menu is very impressive, lots to choose from. Food is average, had better. Felt a lot of MSG, beef from stew was bit dry, overheated. Quality of rice ? is low grade.

Good food but shockingly awful service. They take a take out order then fail to get it right one time, then the next time cancel without telling you. You call up and they are beyond rude. Shout down the phone - dreadful
