The food here is so good! The restaurant has nice ambience. The service is good, a bit more of a European pace to it, which I don't mind!
In recent years, many Turkish restaurants have opened in Northern NJ. Dervish is by far the best Turkish restaurant in the area. This is my 2nd time returning with a party of 4.. It was for a birthday celebration, which at desert time they placed a candle on the desert and sang Happy Bday. We had Hummus and Babaghannous,, must have classics. They did not disappoint. Dinner, mixed grill for two, abundant portion cooked perfectly. Turkish raviolis, hand made in a yogurt sauce, unique and tasty. Show stopper turkish oven onions and turkish meatballs, a must have flavorful dish. Will be returning to try more authentic dishes. Highly recommend.
This wasn't our first time dinning at this location. We usually go in Wayne which is closer to home. Food, service, and atmosphere is always outstanding in both places. Thank you all for great food and hospitality !
The restaurant was extremely quiet, they can turn on the volume of the music a little bit so the atmosphere gets better, like this is very quiet it's ever awkward to talk. Also, it was chilly, we asked to turn on the heat they said they're not able to- the temperature in the restaurant was 63F pretty cold for winter. Food was delicious and portions huge. Everything was very fresh and tasted delicious. Our server was definitely off, he wasn't friendly and attentive at all, he wasn't even listening when he was taking the order. I asked for ff with our main course, they brought them as appetizer. We asked for yogurt sauce for my husband's gyro- we never got it. Our water glasses were never refilled and the server was never around- mostly he was in the kitchen... Probably we will be back because of the food but the overall experience was nothing special.
The portions were generous and the food was amazing. We shared an order of phyllo scrolls for an appetizer. For dinner my husband had the Sultans Platter and I had the Doner Kebab. The lamb was tender and well seasoned. For dessert we shared a medium sized Pistachio Kunefe which was more than enough for the two of us. The atmosphere is pleasant and not too loud. Parking is adequate. The prices are reasonable.
This is a sleeper: excellent Turkish cuisine. Get there before it gets crowded, and it's quiet enough to actually have a conversation.
This was our second time dining at Dervish. It didn't disappoint. We ordered the mixed grill for 4 and it was absolutely delicious. The presentation was fun. You got dinner and a show! The service was great and you didn't feel rushed at all. We will be back.

Generally a nice place with prompt friendly service but for our group last night, the food was just OK overall. The Baba ghanoush and Turkish pizza apps were flavorful as was the basked of warm flatbreads. Two of my friends had the Doner gyro platter, which they found inedible. Dry, small slices of meats with no sauce at all. I had the same chips of meats, but in a tomato-based stew, which was fine. There may be better items on the menu, but I don't think it's worth a return trip.
