Their display case of beautiful desserts blew me away upon walking in! I didn't have much time on lunch break but I decided to grab some Manhattan clam chowder, which was recommended and absolutely delicious! I also had one of the best tiramisu slices I have ever had!

Disrespectful staff. The host was a man around 70 years old who didn’t even smile. The waitress was very nice, but the cashier didn’t respond to our thank-you — she just looked at my shoes and moved on to the next customer. I don’t think the host or the cashier were regular employees. Now I understand why the restaurant was almost empty. Next time, I’d rather stay hungry than come back again.

Not sure why this NJ Diner is so underrated. It's very good, clean, good service and good food, large portions, nicely prepared. Should be at least a solid 4.2 - 4.4 compared to others rated. We always enjoy it.

Husband got food poisoning last night from a from a French dip sandwich he ate, it was all he ate all day, he only ate half of it n I noticed steak was grey meat, called to let management know, he’ll vomited n had bad stomach pains during night, nice place but apparently not busy enough for a good turnover for fresh meat! Needs to be addressed perhaps health department should get there, just saying

The waiter was setting the tables for the next day during dinner time, and I noticed her touching the heads of every single fork and knife on the tables with her bare hands.
As for our food, I didn’t even touch it. The milkshake turned out to be just cold chocolate milk, and the chicken fingers were tasteless and looked unappetizing.
However, the pastrami sandwiches were particularly concerning; they appeared to have been prepared a long time in advance. Just look at that meat, bread and pathetic waffle fries.

Great matzo ball soup, not so good Charley Daniels chicken and ribs. The soup was very fresh and tasty. The ribs were pretty good, but the sweet potato fries were soggy because they were provided next to the Charley Daniels sauce. The chicken was slightly overcooked. I will get the full rack next time, and with a side that is not French fries.

The owner (Mr. Besas) yelled at my daughter because she threw up her food because it was so bad. We also found a mouse under the table. There was hair in the pancakes and I think I saw some toenails in the salad. I strongly suggest you NEVER go to the Pilgrim Diner.
