This was quite an experience. Steak 38 is attached to a generic motel, the space has no windows, but I guess that's ok because the view wouldn't be great. We had a drink at the bar, most were on the sweet side. Then we sat for dinner. Our waiter, Sam, was the best! We picked the PEI oysters and they were delicious. The table side Caesar salad was perfect. My friend said the crab cakes were the best she's ever had, and she knows her crab cakes. The aged t-bone had a great char and fantastic flavor. Filet was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The table side bananas foster was a superb grand finale to a great meal. We never thought we'd find such good food attached to an Express Inn.

Hi , the filet was only fair last night. And we were celebrating 2 birthdays , which was on the reservation and I also told the hostess. But nothing was done by server. Very disappointed

Solid steakhouse. Loved the atmosphere, service was excellent. Steaks were perfect. Can't wait to return.

My husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary. Everyone was very welcoming, friendly, and attentive. Our waiter even sang. The food was fantastic and a great value. We will definitely be going back.

I enjoyed my birthday dinner here! They accommodated us even though we were a few minutes late. They have complementary valet which was really nice. Everyone in my party was extremely satisfied with our food. We had crab cakes, a ribeye, and the lamb chops were chefs kiss. Rob was an amazing server! I was pleasantly surprised by my tiramisu (which was really good, I don't usually like tiramisu) and the gentleman with the beautiful voice that sung happy birthday. Steak 38 10/10. I will be visiting again soon.

I always considered Steak 38 a special occasion restaurant, where you would want to dress up and look nice. But last night, I noticed that the majority of the diners looked like they belonged in McDonalds. So I know it's not the restaurant's fault, but that really ruined the vibe for me. The service was lacking last night . We had to wait around 30 minutes before our order was taken. In fact, we ordered the drinks and our meal at the same time for fear we would have another long wait. Ordered the table-side Caesar and that was also a disappointment. The salad just didn't have that same taste that I have had there in the past. It tasted bland. We had to flag down our server to refill our water glasses. That should not be the case in a fine restaurant. But the good news is that my cosmo and shrimp scampi were tasty and my husband enjoyed his filet dinner. So all and all it wasn't a complete let down. But next time when I want a fine dining place, Steak 38 will not be my first choice.

NY Strip MR- no matter what you get it topped with, it is fabulous. Best steak ever. Tonight's topping special was Gorgonzola and fig. OMG. The crab cake is fantastic too. Best ever. And dessert... no matter how full you are.... peanut butter pie, butter cake a la mode... mind blowing.

Great atmosphere, service was great. Caesar salad was the best. Crab cakes were all crab, no filler.

Server was too bothersome. Kept interrupting my table conversation with my wife. But he was nice. Almost "TOO" nice.

The 3 stars for atmosphere is really related to the outside and how the parking lot is set up. It's a terrible place to enter into by car due to route 38 exit lane being in front of the entrance. If your coming from cuthbert Blvd you can turn into the first entrance right after the feather nest inn. This if right before you enter the yield lane to hop on rt38 much easier and less chaotic.

This is truly a great place to enjoy a good meal. I just found the lobster was less than flavorful. Crab cakes were excellent. Steaks are always great here and service is Top

The place is a small place. However, the ambiance was awesome. Great music played softly in the background. The food was good. I had crab cakes. Although delicious, I wouldn't say best in New Jersey. The place was a bit on the pricey side, but the service and ambiance made up for it. I loved the warm seeded dinner bread and butter. The chocolate martini was huge and delicious at the same time. Moira, the waitress, was very attentive and provided exceptionally great service. Valet parking was included. Overall, I would recommend this place.

This visit was an overall disappointment. The place is attached to a small hotel and has couple of small seating spaces. We were seated in the room in the back of the restaurant which looks like an add-on to the parking lot. The room was very much drafty with all the exterior walls covered, so no windows. I had to keep my jacket on the entire time. The service was slow and inattentive. Our waiter came to the table just quick enough to take the order and did not return to check in until the meal was over. We had ordered a prime rib and Ribeye steak. Both were overcooked. The Ribeye was tough and not of the best quality. Mashed potato was runny and the beans were just thrown on the plate hanging off the sides. They did not have a desert menu and the waiter had to recite them for us. The cappuccino machine was not working and they could only offer hot tea. Either we picked a bad night or every night is just as bad.
I was very disappointment of this place that markets itself as a steakhouse. There are much better restaurants in the same area with better cut of meat, cooked better, much better service, and a higher quality location.

Parking: Has complementary valet. No other choice that I noticed. All the spots in the parking lot were associated with the hotel next door.

Courtesy staff albeit seating was delayed.
Pretty venue.
Food was mediocre. I had a Marsala that was far too sweet and my SO had the Diablo seafood pasta and all the seafood was overcooked. Green beans were stellar however. I’d try different options again.
