Cafe Bubamara is truly something special. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the warmth and authenticity of the place. The smell of freshly baked burek hits you right away — flaky, buttery, perfectly balanced — easily some of the best you’ll find anywhere. But it doesn’t stop there. The menu is full of incredible Balkan comfort dishes and pastries, all made with care and true homemade flavor.
The atmosphere is relaxed, friendly, and full of life. You can come alone, with family, or with a group of friends and always feel welcome. The staff are attentive, kind, and treat you like part of the family, which is rare to find these days. What really stands out is how inclusive the place feels — people from all walks of life come here, and it naturally brings everyone together around great food and conversation.
Whether you’re already familiar with Balkan cuisine or just curious to try something new, Cafe Bubamara delivers an experience that goes beyond just eating — it’s about culture, community, and connection. This is one of those spots that instantly becomes a favorite, and you’ll find yourself coming back again and again.

Always one of my favorite places when I'm feeling home sick. This feels great just to go in alone or with a group of people. Staff always are welcoming and greet you warmly. Highly recommend too anyone who is interested in some south Slavic cuisine.

Every time I come to New Jersey from Michigan, this restaurant in Clifton is my must-stop. The food is absolutely incredible—fresh, flavorful, and made with so much care. Their sweets are out of this world, easily some of the best I’ve ever had anywhere. The service is just as impressive: warm, welcoming, and attentive, they make you feel like family the moment you walk in. The atmosphere is unique and inviting, with a special charm that makes every visit memorable.
I’ve been here many times, and each experience has been consistently amazing. If you’re in Clifton and want the perfect combination of outstanding food, top-notch service, and an unforgettable atmosphere, this is the place to go.

Who knew on this quiet street that there's a restaurant rocking total Balkan vibe! The interior of the restaurant and the backyard seating were both lovely. The atmosphere also reminded us of our trip to the Balkans. We got the Petulla (Balkan sugar free fried fluffy dough that comes with honey and feta cheese), mushroom burek and the dumpling (more like burek in ball shape). The food was ok overall, not the best burek. The Petulla was good yet such guilty pleasure being so greasy. Overall great place to hang out with friends with beautiful decor and great vibe.

Café Bubamara does serve tasty Balkan food like burek, cevapi, and desserts, and the cozy indoor/outdoor seating is nice. However, the service completely ruined my experience. I went for breakfast with a party of seven, and the server was rude from the moment we arrived. Later, when we tried to order a shake, we were told with attitude, “we can’t make that right now.” The dismissive tone and lack of courtesy overshadowed the food and atmosphere. Good food doesn’t excuse such poor service, and I left very disappointed. For the service I will not recommend this place.
