Modest, sub shack with on-street parking near busy intersection of Clifton. This spot is a hidden gem serving up delicious, fresh, thinly sliced cold cuts and hot hero sandwiches for the locals. The shop is small, and no real dining area, but they put the attention where it belongs--on the subs! The rolls they use are soft and chewy. Onions are shaved, lettuce Shredded, nice size tomato, oil vinegar, and seasonings. Boom! It's perfection. And I don't know what I appreciate...
Been going here since it was Frills. I even worked here for a very short time in high school. I’ve since moved to South Carolina, but had to come to NJ so I stopped at Troops to get some subs. The place hasn’t changed a bit and I ordered about 3 subs and some sides and every thing I ordered seemed to annoy him to the point where I was asked “are you gonna order anything else?” I’m a co-owner of a restaurant in Savannah GA and I’d never be upset if people were placing...
