I had higher hopes for this place considering all the great reviews.

When ordering, I had an uncomfortable interaction with the person taking my order, he looked at me very confused when I asked a question about whether or not the latte had sugar already in it. When he didn’t reply, I repeated my question and then he clarified in a bit of a rude way asking if it was my first time there. I’m not sure, but in my opinion, people should be treated the same if they’re new or a regular. I felt uncomfortable afterwards and wish I had left then.

I then waited over 35 minutes for my order which was a bit frustrating given it was just a sandwich and drink and I was on a work break. I didn’t really understand the wait as it wasn’t super crowded.

As far as the food, the matcha latte was just ok for my sandwich, there was no seasoning on any part of it and the avocado was more like a guacamole that was made in a tub not super fresh. My order was also incorrect which was upsetting since I have dietary restrictions. Very overpriced for the quality. Wouldn’t go back.

First time here and loved it. Super cool spot & the coffee/ latte quality is great! Been on the search for a great latte in Bergen County & this one is at the top of the list. Highly recommend.

Earlybird Coffee & More in Cresskill is such a great find. The barista was very friendly and welcoming. The pastries were amazing — fresh, flaky and baked on premises. Their espresso drinks are excellent, smooth and well-crafted. I also noticed how popular their matcha drinks were while I was there — almost everyone seemed to be ordering one. A true hidden gem in the suburbs that brings genuine city café vibes. ☕✨

Excellent coffee, pastries and sandwiches. Friendly and helpful staff. If you go early in the morning, owner Daniel will make you drinks, and give you his daily joke. Very funny guy. Highly recommended it if you live in the area.

Matcha connoisseur here—this place delivers. Beautiful depth of green, properly sifted and whisked, clearly high quality. In an area where many cafés fall short, Early Bird Coffee & More stands out with excellent drinks, pastries, and sandwiches. The vibe here is calm and inviting, with modern design, plants, and cozy seating that makes it my go to place to chill.

I am a huge boutique coffee shop fanatic and have a dream to own an automotive inspired coffee shop one day. Of all the amazing shops I have been to, I have never felt more comfortable, welcomed, or treated better in any other coffee shop. Early Bird Coffee Co. treats everyone like family, offers amazing coffee and pastries and sets a great vibe whether you’re there to meet someone or get some work done solo. Thank you Danny for creating a great place for people to call home and for building a great team of Baristas!

My new favorite coffee shop in the neighborhood. Danny, who owns and operates the shop is very friendly and pulls an incredibly smooth espresso shot. His matcha lattes are top notch and everything is high quality. A nice antidote to many venture capital chains that sell the worse quality coffee.

The woman who took our order was very rude, which made the entire experience uncomfortable and disrespectful. After handing us our drinks, she vaguely asked if we wanted pastries. When I tried to clarify whether they were being offered, she suddenly giggled when I asked if they were free and gave a mocking look. She then laughed with the café owner. Because of this behavior, I would never want to return. On top of that, the drinks were not good. However, she was very polite and friendly toward white customers while being unfriendly toward Asian customers. It felt clearly racist and discriminatory. If you’re looking for a café nearby, I’d recommend going to Awe & Wonder instead.

I visited Early Bird Cafe today (Saturday) around 1:30 PM with my mother. We ordered two drinks—a chai and a latte. Unfortunately, both drinks were below average.

More concerning was the service. The employee at the front counter who took our order was rude from the beginning. We did not ask about or order any pastries, yet she abruptly asked if we were planning to eat pastries. When we asked whether they were complimentary, she laughed at us openly with what appeared to be the owner/manager. This happened directly in front of us and felt extremely disrespectful.

Throughout the interaction, her attitude toward me and my mother was noticeably different compared to how she treated other customers, particularly white customers, who were spoken to politely and respectfully. The experience made us feel uncomfortable and singled out, and it strongly came across as discriminatory.

I left feeling embarrassed, confused, and honestly shaken. No customer should feel this way simply for ordering coffee. Between the poor service and unimpressive drinks, I would not recommend this cafe and will not be returning.
