there isn't a number low enough to give this restaurant. the chef is abusive and miserable. We came in and sat down 1 hour before closing, obviously he thought he was done for the night. We ordered simple rolls as it was already late. Before we even ordered he was already yelling that they sat us. When our order was given, he started slamming food around, yelling loud enough for a deaf person to hear. By that time we were worried about the quality of our food order. I made the mistake of asking if he can possibly remove the tail off of my shrimp tempura rolls, that was it. He went off the deep end screaming and slamming the kitchen door cursing. We simply got up and left. Don't go here if you want a nice experience.

Truly excellent sushi, best in the area by far. Check the specials for scrumptious delights like ankimo (monkfish liver) and hamachi kama (yellowtail collar).

it's pricey but super good ! very fresh and has a huge variety (urchin, sweet shrimp, fatty tuna). reservations only!

I read this was rated #1 sushi in NJ and it definitely didn't disappoint! Everything we had was so fresh and delicious. The hand rolls with seaweed wrapping were amazing!

Genuinely incredible sushi, definitely one of the best I've had in the United States. Their fish is fresh, tender, and delicious. This is not the deep-fried special rolls sort of place - authentic, simple sushi and perfect They remember me after only a couple times there. Call to make a reservation, they're by reservation only.

This has been my favorite restaurant in NJ, probably just favorite restaurant period for a long time. My family have been coming here for so long and weve come to know the wonderful people who here. Ordering takeout lunch from Tomo is enough to make my whole week. Im convinced there isn't a better chickendon on this planet. And their nabe udon is also perfect. Of course you cannot go wrong with any sushi or sashimi selection. Super fresh. Everything about tomo oozes charm from the small asides on the menu to the simple but masterfully prepared food. Dinner or lunch, have never had anything short of a perfect experience here

Amazing sushi! To me, they serve the best sushi in NJ and their other dishes are delicious too. Very fresh ingredients. They often have unusual and unique specials. The decor is simple but the food will keep you coming back!❤️

Most authentic and best quality Japanese food in NJ I know, coming from a Japanese person! Make a reservation, be on time, and get served great food, conveniently next to a movie theater (perfect night out)!

RESERVATIONS REQUIRED Pricy, but soooo worth it I have not been able to get into Tomo's recently however. Pre-pandemic, we went several times. It is quirky in a Japanese sort of way. It is Tomo's place and you need to follow his rules. If you do, you will be served some of the best Japanese food you will experience. In many ways it is extremely authentic, although in Japan, most restaurants specialize in one type of food. Not sure how the owner does it but he offers an amazing breadth of dishes, all fresh. The fish is some of the freshest I have experienced outside of Japan. The only thing you wont find is "Americanized fancy rolls". If that is what you want, then this is NOT your restaurant. Couldn't get Natto, much to my surprise.

I’ve been dining at Tomo’s for years, and it is always a fantastic culinary experience. Starting with the service - Fin always remembers my name and the names of our boys. No matter how long - she never forgets names or orders. The food: is outstanding. Fresh, incredible high grade sushi, sashimi and creations.

This place doesn't look like much from the outside or when you walk in. It's like a little mom and pop shop, one of my favorite sushi places in the area. Always so fresh and seriously comparable to the NYC city places. You definitely need to make a reservation they usually don't accommodate big parties so plan accordingly.

THE BEST traditional sushi you will find in NJ. Tomo is a true artist and he runs his restaurant with respect, dedication and a dash of fun. We LOVE this place so much! Anyone complaining just really has no idea...
