This was my first time dining inside Topps since the remodel—I’ve only done pickup before. When I walked in, I was greeted by the host. Since I was alone, I first thought about sitting at the bar but didn’t see a comfortable spot. I let the host know, and she quickly assisted me to a table.
My server, Levhlee, was excellent. She greeted me with a smile, handed me the menu, and even suggested an item that fit what I was looking for. She was polite, attentive, and gave me just the right amount of attention while dining solo.
The food, however, was about a 7/10. The pancakes had a burnt crisp I didn’t enjoy, the eggs were overcooked, the bacon and sausage tasted like they were deep fried rather than grilled, and the hash browns were bland. Not terrible, but disappointing considering my excitement to finally sit in. I still finished my meal, but let my server know afterward. She kindly explained I should’ve mentioned it sooner, though I wasn’t looking to send anything back or be compensated—just wanted to share my experience.
Before leaving, I spoke with GM Chris and complimented Levhlee’s great service. He mentioned she was new, and I told him how lucky they are to have her on the team.
On a positive note, the high ceilings and spacious layout are beautiful—classy, glamorous, and comfortable without feeling crowded.
Overall: fantastic service, lovely atmosphere, but food quality could use improvement.

Tops is one of my go to places where I can always find what I want. Food is good, service is food. I only gave atmosphere a 4 because the DJ today was way too loud couldn't have a conversation with my husband over the noise. My first time experiencing this at Tops. I hope it was a one time thing.

Best Diner in America? Maybe the best Diner in Newark, but I wouldn't make that claim. If you enjoy a listening to DJ ( while being unable to hear anyone) while eating breakfast you might enjoy this place.

If I could give this place zero stars I would the food is horrible. Ridiculous it’s completely overhyped. Save your time. Save your money. Go somewhere else. The waiter was pretty nice though otherwise everything else sucked
