An above average Korean BBQ spot. Their crispy fried rice was extremely good at the bottom of the piping hot bowl, as well as its accompanying bulgogi beef. Their buldak chicken was also amazing! I loved their seaweed salad and pickled cucumbers as well. Check this place out!

Not sure why there’s so many bad reviews here. I had a good experience. This was my first time visiting. It’s hard to find a place that serves 알탕. The place feels very cozy and welcoming. The lady was nice. Food and banchan is great and reasonably priced.

While I hate to be blunt, the quality of this restaurant is downright terrible. The food was tasteless, the service was a disaster, and I left feeling utterly disappointed. Save your money and go other korean places.

PLEASE DO NOT GOThis place used to be my go-to for Korean food, but it has changed completely since COVID. I found a fly in my food, but I left without saying anything initially because we used to go there often. A few months later, I found a maggot in my soup AGAIN. I complained, but he completely ignored it, didn't even look at it, and insisted it wasn't a bug. He rubbed it with his hands before I could take a picture.I felt super creepy and weird, so I haven't been to this place since. There's also a police report regarding a hidden camera in the female bathroom, so PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE. There are many other good Korean restaurants in town.

My solid go to for Korean for many years and have seen the ownership change many times but thankfully with out so much as a stumble in the kitchen....The Banchan remains basic but the house made kimchi is the best... tart, crisp, spicy with a sweeter finish I just had to order some to take home. The soft tofu soup scaulding hot and filled with delightful morsals of seafood was just the thing for a chilly day and the spicy soy marinated crabs over rice was excellent... all available as a lunch special.Service is typically brisk but efficient and prices remain very affordable so a win win.

Do not! I REPEAT! DO NOT COME HERE. I ordered the 27$ octopus and it tasted like PLASTIC; like literal plastic. The food here is seasoned with the cheapest ingredients and the quality of the food is just not good at all. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!!??

I've been a loyal patron of this Korean restaurant for years, and it used to be my go-to place for a satisfying Korean meal. However, I'm saddened to say that the restaurant has seen a noticeable decline in quality since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. What was once a reliable dining destination has now become a disappointment. One of the most noticeable changes has been the portion sizes. In the past, this restaurant was known for its generous servings, but now the portion sizes have been cut in half. This is particularly evident when I ordered the beloved Bibimbap, which used to be served in a large stone pot, giving it that coveted crispy rice layer at the bottom. But lately, they've opted to serve it in a tofu soup stone pot instead. While the presentation is different, the change has not been for the better. The unique charm of sizzling Bibimbap in the stone pot has been lost, and the dish feels like a shadow of its former self. What's even more disappointing is that the quality of the food has also taken a hit. Dishes that were once bursting with flavor and authenticity now lack that same depth and richness. It's as if the heart and soul of the cuisine have faded away. The taste is dull, and it's evident that shortcuts may be taken in the kitchen, compromising the overall dining experience. The decline in quality and portion sizes is truly disheartening for someone like me who used to adore this restaurant. I understand that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges to the restaurant industry, but it's essential for establishments to find ways to adapt and maintain their standards.

NOT Korean bbq. We came here and asked for Korean bbq. We seated in a table with burners and exhaust after we ordered they proceeded to cook the Korean BBQ for us. They said it's a fire hazard. Why not tell us this beforehand. It's disappointing not only because we didn't get to cook our own Korean bbq but the portions were very small. Lots of banchan which I liked but my kids don't eat those. Got the grilled squid and it was delicious.

Food was good. I got a mackerel and soup combo. It was half of a fish and small soup. If you have a small appetite it's ok. I filled up on the side dishes. The fish needed salt but it wasn't on the table. It's on the half wall barrier next to the fish tank. My mom ordered the whiting fish soup and it came in a bigger bowl. She really liked it. The Korean servers weren't around much but the Spanish server was around and helpful. The price was not bad. I'd return again.

Pretty average across the board. The food was good; not bad, not great. Highlights were a rice dish in a hot clay pot and the marinated beef short ribs from the bbq grill. Everything else was solid at best. Service was friendly enough and very prompt. A little too prompt. They hovered until we gave them our order and then it seemed like the food was almost immediately on top of us. And as far as ambience goes, it’s about as nice as you would assume a restaurant in a strip-mall in central Jersey would be. Most likely won’t be back, because there’s a similar restaurant my wife and I like better in the area.

Authentic Korean food! I ordered Gejang( Seasoned Raw Crab) which is a specialty dish not all Korean restaurants offer, the last time I had that I was in Korea! I would like it to have more tomalley though! And of course they have the everyday Korean food like bulgogi, kimchi soup and galbi. The restaurant also offer lunch set menu for the popular items!

Amongst the modernized Korean restos in New Jersey, Chung Sol Bat remains an old school institution in Central NJ-- from their no frills interior to their classic Korean dishes. We usually go here on Sundays after running and this is the place to have perfect meal to heal your hunger. We usually come here for their ala carte dishes and not for bbq. They serve Korean BBQ on table top if you order 2 or more.Ban Chan- keeping it cozy and old school with kimchi (just right, not overly fermented and sour), bean sprouts, stewed tofu, seaweed ( mixed variety depending on the day), beef shin, fish cakes and the like. Our meals: *bulgogi box - rice, fried dumpling, salad, bulgogi.Served hot and fresh, bulgogi is marinated in house, very filling. (Lunch special throughout the week) $18.99*galbi hot stone bowl- rice in hot stone pot, veggies and cut up galbi. This is part of their lunch specials as well. $16.99*combo special- galbi and soon do boo - served in a hot platter, about 2 strips of galbi, soon do boo in a hot stone pot, and a bowl of rice. I like this better than their galbi hot stone bowl because of the strips and it's easier to eat. $18.99Service is friendly, quiet and helpful. Our glasses were always topped off with water or tea. They used to serve sushi here but have stopped post-Covid.They have an extensive lunch and special combo menu that won't break the bank and is pretty inexpensive compared to other Korean restaurants. Parking lot and in a small complex off Rt. 1 Old Post Road in south Edison.
