Kid Unfriendly restaurant, one of the male staff kept giving me a long face and came to my kids (2 & 4 years old) twice and asked them to keep quiet, even though we apologized.
However, the kids were just laughing loud, not screaming , crying and yelling, the restaurant was not full , there were no other customers sit nearby us.
The restaurant had loud music in background too, is not a quiet place, that staff should not be such impolite to kid customers.
Kid-friendliness: Bad attitude

I agree with the previous review. The staff aggressively pushed for tipping, which was off-putting. Additionally, agree with previous review again, the portions of beef in the soup have become noticeably smaller and fewer. Overall, the quality of the food seems to be declining.

The pulled noodles were very nice and chewy, we had them stir fried with beef, with spicy ground pork(best choice) and in soup ,the soup was bland for me the beef is nice tender .

Noodles are okay. Mutton steamed buns and grilled gluten are terrible.

The food was average, the Lanzhou noodles barely had beef, the service was quick enough. What surprised me was that when I was going to pay, the waiter swiped to the right of the screen so the bill included 20% tip. Not only was that too much for a simple lunch, but also I felt I was forced to pay the tip. We won't go back.

We walked in and asked if they serve vegetarian food. We were seated with assurance that they serve veg. There was no tofu or bean curd. Just noodles and tomato and spring onion. $25 for this?server is not having any expectation
Vegetarian options: Nothing vegetarian other than cabbage. Do not eat here.

This is the first review I have ever written but I felt compelled to do so. My son and I found out about Dun Huang almost three years ago. We enjoy regionalized Chinese food and don't have a lot of options near us and at least monthly, we travel an hour to dine here. We recognized the name from the locations in NY and decided to give it a try. We've tried most of the menu and particularly enjoy the dapanji and braised beef noodles. All the staff are very good, but Danny has consistently gone out of his way and is one of the kindest and best servers I have ever encountered at a restaurant. WE have tried a lot of restaurants in Edison, but sometimes he is the deciding factor of where we choose to dine while in the area.

This place is a rarity nowadays. Great food, great prices, great service. Takeout orders pack the noodles separate from the soup so they don’t get soggy too. Can’t recommend enough.

My wife and I love this place, as well as my folks. Fresh noodles is the main thing but the other dishes are awesome choices as well.

Freshly hand pulled noodles to order. You can decide how thick or thin you would like your noodles. Their broth is so good. It is clear and not oily, rich in flavor and hearty. While there are spicy dishes here, they are not overwhelming spicy. There are plenty of choices for children, too.

Brief : babies are not welcome unless they are absolutely quiet.
Our experience: we were told to stop our 1 year old baby from making noise in an unfriendly and unprofessional way . An waiter said to us in Chinese “可以让你们的小孩不要再吵了吗?‘’meaning can you stop your kid from making noise ?
We dine in similar restaurants with our 1 year old very often and have never been told this . He makes noise occasionally due to his age and not able to speak . But we always prioritize keeping him quiet by shushing him and feeding him food as fast as possible.
I confronted the owner / manager later about this experience and got no apology, he just told me people complained about children noise before.
So good news for anyone who want to have important dinner conversations with the restaurant’s loud background music ! Since we will never visit again ever . Food is mediocre too and there are so many friendly and delicious options nearby so I don’t feel sorry at all.
