The tables could be cleaner. When I entered the restaurant, the smell was also pretty bad.

Oh my goodness. Stopped by because the boyfriend was in the mood for Dan Dan noodles and saw the reviews for this spot. Ordered the Dan Dan noodles and spicy wontons to go. I taste test everything in the car before leaving and it was so good that I sent him back inside to grab me a second order.

I ordered for take out and it was still delicious. The noodles were soft and made with the numbing spice. The dumplings were flavorful and you get plenty of them. I’ve been wanting to try this place for a good while and pleasant to say, I’m not disappointed. Definitely recommend!

The food is authenthic and really good but I feel like it's not non-chinese speaking friendly because the people running the place are older chinese people who doesnt speak english. So if you dont speak chinese... it's hard to communicate when ordering especially if you want to make changes on your order.

No one recommended me this place. It just came from my wife's pick. We just wanted to explore new choices. Ummm... First impression was just like some reviews said.... A lot of things that are rarely seen in a Chinese restaurant!! Full self service: No waiters, order from counter's console, pick up your own order, clean your own table after meal... and it's not a takeout style Chinese restaurant... So.. it feels pretty weird... But my purpose here is not spoiled by this kind of things. I am here to try its Szechuan dishes!! My opinion: it's very good for its food, definitely has its own special taste from the other. I 100 percent will come back for other dishes on the menu... but in Takeout ......

Love the dumplings. This area in Edison has a bunch of Szechuan style Chinese. This is one of my favs. I hit this place up whenever I'm in town.

Very authentic sichuan style noodles, both spicy and non spicy have very much flavor. Likely best chinese restaurant in NJ!

My third time there in the past couple of months. Authentic (I am told) regional Sichuan cuisine. Very tasty food and despite the language barrier, friendly and helpful people. As some reviewers have noted, it's important to stir the noodle dishes to distribute the (delicious) sauces. The Shanghai Lollipop chicken, the plainest item on the menu, was perfectly cooked. The Army Pork Roll is unique and really good. More vegetable options would be a plus.Next time we'll explore beef and organ meat options. Yumm...can't wait!

I was in the area last week and stopped here because I read some promising reviews and I was not disappointed. This is more of a takeout place, although there are a decent amount of tables and booths. The atmosphere can best be described as a hole in the wall kind of place. I live too far for take out so we stayed. The hot and sour wonton soup was amazing as were the pork buns. The spicy chicken noodle with bok choy and peanuts was good but all the sauce was in the bottom of the bowl and after a while the sauce was very tingly on my tongue. Maybe it's the MSG. I remember reading one review that it is definitely used. Next time I'll try a different noodle dish and ask for no MSG.

Really good noodles. Great spice levels. Overall good experience. Only minor complaint is that sometimes the place can smell weird when you dine in, but that should deter you from trying the food.

First i hate to say this, but the pictures you see will draw you there, and the food they serve doesn't look anything like the pictures. the place smells bad when you walk in. I don't know what it is. For the people that go there that only speak English you've got a problem right away, they don't speak English. I love pasta, but I don't know what to pick, and they really couldn't suggest anything to me. Once you order they want there money right away, before you get to even see the food. I waited for the meal come at leat 10 to 15 minutes. Terrible. I left just about all my food at the table. I would never go in there again. Really they need to be close down, and I didn't want to give 1 STAR to the business ?

Wow, well that was a homerun! Dan dan noodles were on point. Spicy wontons had so much flavor and the buns were so tasty. I recommend ordering the same thing I ordered and you'll never go wrong.

This is probably one of the best authentic szechuan noodles shop I have ever visited and we lived in the NYC area. The food is fantastic and I think the reason the rating was not higher is there is no much of service as it is a self served café, and it gets super busy at times that the owners might mess up orders.

Small hot and spicy noodle restaurant right off of route 1. Dishes were all pretty authentic, and tasty and you bus your own table so no tip is needed. Unfortunately, the owner "forgot" to update the menu pricing so each item is $2 to $3 more than what it really is. Since we came here with a big group we didn't want to make a scene. Also, they substituted the Chinese vegetable with regular cabbage without any notice. I really want to leave a great review since I love to support these type of eatery but I just can't bring myself to overlook this business practice.

We live about an hour and change from Edison, we come here every so often to shop at Ranch 99 and stock up on our Chinese grocery supplies. When we do come to Edison, we always try to go to a restaurant as we dont have alot of authentic Shanghai/Taiwanese food in our area (Lehigh Valley, PA). Bang Bang is run by a native Sichuan/Chengdu couple. When we walked in, my mother asked if they were from Sichuan. When the couple confirmed they were indeed from Sichuan, my mother and them started speaking in their sing song dialect that is so indicative of Sichuan region. We let the owners order for us, we requested whatever their best dishes were, bring them on. I have to say, this place is very authentic...complete from the amazing pork buns, noodles, pork belly, cold chicken in chili sauce, and the marinated cucumbers that were among the best I've had. What also is authentic is the less-than amazing service which is indicative of most places like these in China. It's not the friendliest, but it's not completely off-putting either. It's a combination of "we're really busy making all this food, dont expect someone to be ready to wait on you immediately" and impatience with customers who dont know exactly what they want. Special note about the pork buns. These are NOT soup dumplings. They are steamed pork buns...and they are delicious. When I lived in Beijing in 1994 attending a university, I used to buy pork buns from a small place at night as a snack...they were so good. The buns at Bang Bang remind me of these same buns. The dough is stretchy, spongey, yet still hold up with the simple juicy pork filling. Personally, I'm just happy to find a restaurant not run by Chinese from Fu Zhou (you know what I mean). We'll be coming back to this place the next time we come to Edison. I'm really glad we were able to dine-in as well. There are some other highly rated restaurants in Edison that still only take out/delivery....seriously?
