If you know anything about NJ, you know that Edison has a large Asian community. If you want good authentic Asian food, then Edison is a good bet. Spice 24 is located in a strip mall with a number of Asian restaurants, an Asian chain supermarket, Korean spa, bakery, etc. First impression was that Spice 24 was really clean and the staff were extremely friendly. We were greeted and seated. A bowl of salted nuts (maybe chestnuts???) were placed on the table with glasses of water. The menu is a QR code, and that’s where it became a little too much work for us. The menu isn’t terribly descriptive for my liking, e.g., pepper beef empanada. That’s the end of the description. Based on the picture, I have a pretty good idea what it might be, but I would have liked to have more information about how the empanada was prepared. Mind you, the English version online said it was a pepper beef empanada, but the QR code menu with Chinese and English called it something entirely different. We figured it was a bun by looking at the picture, but we weren’t expected it to be deep fried. I mean, it was good and we had no complaints, but we just expected steamed or maybe pan fried. There were definitely some challenges with the menu for us so we had to signal the waitress a few times. She was extremely helpful and explained what things were if we had questions. To be clear, we are not that knowledgeable about real Chinese food and this is no fault of the establishment or staff. We’re ok picking things out by pictures on the menu; however, I have some dietary restrictions so I wanted to ensure I didn’t select something I do not eat by accident. Also, clicking and scrolling through a long menu and adding items to the cart before checking out was not my jam. It just felt like too much work for a meal. I cannot tell you exactly what we ended up ordering because we didn’t know exactly what we were clicking on, but what eventually arrived was very good. The portion was large. We shared it between two people and we were full. There was the option to request lower sodium and less oil for the stir fry which I appreciated. Whatever personal issue we had with the menu was countered by the staff’s attentiveness and their ability to make us feel at home. Water was refilled without asking for it, every few minutes our server would check in on us, and they staff genuinely wanted feedback on what we thought about the food. The waitress said she would help us order the next time, so we would return. :)

Spice 24 has been a staple in my household for the past 7 years. The food was always 10/10 prior to the renovations. After the renovations, I recently went to the location and the ambience has definitely improved. However, the dry pot bowl is not what it used to be. We ordered the black bean sauce - which barely had any black beans and was lacking flavor. The food was oilier and has lost its charm of being flavorful and saucy/spicy. Not sure if the chef has changed but please bring the old spice back.
We will still be going for a few more times, hoping that our feedback is received.

No longer cooking authentic Sichuan food, they have Americanized it. Ordered here delivery last week and this week. Last week it was acceptable but not spicy enough, this week it doesn’t have any spicy and I made sure to indicate the highest level of spice. I also ordered a spicy eggplant, it’s not spicy at all. They used to have extra spicy as an option, there was nowhere to write it in on DoorDash for any dish. They also used to have rattan pepper soup as a hotpot option and no longer have it. Please go back to the Chinese way. I missed you for so long, now when I order again it’s ruined. The first time I was nice about it but the second time I feel I need to leave this review because it’s not ok. Don’t worry about any American who complains the food is too spicy, they need to look up what mala is before they order, don’t change your food for them. Please go back to the old way of cooking. Thank you.

This has become my favorite restaurant.
Food: Their dry pot is the best I've had in the tri-state area. And their a la carte menu is wonderful. Drinks (bubble tea and slushies) are also quite good.
Service: Efficient and attentive waiters proficient in Mandarin and English.
The only downside is that this spot exists in the Hmart plaza which is always full and hard to find parking. Would LOVE to see them expand in new locaitons.

I used to come here regularly before moving, and I’ve always enjoyed the dry pot. Today, I drove an hour to visit but was disappointed to find that the restaurant was closed and under construction, even though Google Maps still shows it as open. Spice 24, could you please update your hours on Google? It would only take a minute, and I’d love to return once you reopen.
The fragrant pot is delicious. Can you reopen it quickly? I'm going to starve to death, boss.

THE BEST Sichuan Dry Pot in the area. Cannot stop dreaming about their food. I go there every month and have been doing this from the last 6 years. Just be careful of the spice level
