This is one of my favorite local restaurants. We have known one of the owners for years. We go here for fish-n-chips. The other food is great as well, but I'm the kind of guy that goes to specific places for specific things. I rarely change my order. Although, I used to get the ɓeet salad with salmon. I do have to say that for some reason, they have been serving crinkled fries for chips, and that just isn't right. The environment is great. They have a bar that is always full. You can't go wrong here. You'll walk out happy.

We’ve been getting fish and chips from Sheelen’s for over two years - the fried fish is really miss more than hit lately - 50-75% of the time, the batter is so incredibly thick that the outside may be golden brown and crispy but right underneath is a layer of undercooked-pancake wetness. One piece may be cooked well, the other isn’t or another piece will be 50% great the other half with that overly thick/wet batter. I want to love them (fried fish is my fave) but I’d love to see more consistency in how their fish is cooked
Fish & Chips platters were good. I combined my three fish into one taco as the amount of fish was very small. Ceviche was more like a shrimp cocktail; shrimp and scallops were not chopped as traditional crevice is usually prepared.
Excellent seafood to go. Fresh and good value.Their chicken sandwich was awesome too.
Great place to get fresh fish/seafood. Fish & chips = Two Huge fillets of Cod in light battered coating + steak fries + Cole slaw + tartar sauce. Four varieties of seafood soups, including traditional New England Clam Chowder, Lobster Bisque, and 2 Chef innovations soups. Great Hush Puppies, too!Specials during the week. Bright, clean, and airy, but simple dining area. Bottled drinks available.
Parking: Right on Route 22 West. Plenty of parking out front. Handicap spots, too. Shares building and parking with Batteries Plus store.
They have great fried oysters, soups, seafood salad, ez peel shrimp, crabcakes, wild caught fish and service!!!
Delicious lobster roll with thick cut fries and a drizzle of Old Bay Seasoning (by request) Very fresh cole slaw and looking forward to my next visit for lunch. Side note, I took the food to go and it was wrapped to keep the fries hot and crispy.
Great food. Nice selection. Very responsive staff. On the pricy side but worth the cost, IMHO.
This fish was so amazing; not only satisfying my craving for fish and chips, it exceed all of my expectations and more. The pieces were HUGE and I could hardly get through half of one before having to put my fork down and give my stomach a break for a bit -- and trust me that was the LAST thing I wanted to do! The Cole slaw was outrageous; better than any I've ever had along the Jersey shore. If you're looking for a REAL fish market with real beer battered fish; this is your "EUREKA!"
After my work day, I was craving for some Poke Bowl so we decided to drive and check out Sheeleen’s Fish Market. Poke is pronounced poh-KAY and rhymes with OK. The place was nice and cozy, both indoor and outdoor dining. Of course, we picked outdoor, next to the flowers, basked in the hot sun on a summer day. They had a whole lot of seafood choices! My choice of bowl is the Tuna Poke Bowl - fresh tuna tossed in teriyaki ginger dressing, corn, edamame, cucumbers, seaweed salad, mango, pineapple, carrots, scallions on brown rice. I got my husband the Lobster roll. Since it’s officially Summer, Lobster rolls are the best! A lobster roll consists of chunks of tender, sweet, cooked lobster meat barely napped in a thin coating of mayonnaise, all stuffed into a top-split, white-bread hot dog bun lightly toasted in butter. It can be served warm or cold, however you prefer. Brings a smile to one’s face, indeed! Delicious!

Had the grilled scallops and fries. Taste was awesome would give a slight less on 5 stars just because it def needed a few more scallops, but other than that, would order again, the tarter sauce that came with it was excellent! Also had the seafood poke bowl, now that was loaded with shrimp and scallops like crazy, actually could have been less and still would have been great. Stars of the show were the soups! Shrimp Mac & Cheese was great and the New England Clam Chowder the best ever-(10 stars). Will visit again for lunch. Owner was very nice!
Our first time at Sheelen’s was Saturday evening 4/16/22 when we were passing by on South Ave. in Fanwood. Since it was late, we chose takeout & are very happy with the quality and taste of the battered & fried fish & chips, Po’boy Shrimp sandwich and fried battered zucchini! The battered food is fried until golden & the fish is cooked just right. The portions are a good size, larger than we expected. The Cole Slaw is tasty. The knowledgeable young woman who took our order answered all our questions about the foods. While we waited for the food, she said we were welcome to sample their soups; the 4 large soup kettles are self serve. We tried the Lobster Bisque and the New England Clam Chowder ~ both were excellent.Everything was packaged nicely and they included a container of tartar sauce, of cocktail sauce & packets of the Malt vinegar. The prices are good, considering that it’s Seafood. We definitely will be returning here!
The clam chowder was a little watery and not flavorful but the salmon soup was excellent. A little surprised because they're quality is usually off the hook. I also think they need to go back to making their own croutons for the soup. Theirs was alot more flavorful than the oyster crackers they use now. I'll definitely go back to see if they make any changes! (Plus...I love their souls and fish and chips!)
First off, they're great with a deep fryer, whether it's fish or hush puppies or Oreos. The soup is always good, but the lobster bisque goes fast. I like the "warm" (I'd say "Connecticut style") lobster rolls. They've got raw fish, poki bowls, and tacos to try, too, though I've never gotten this fast through the menu. Very quick service, if you're in a rush you can order ahead, not that much room to eat inside but there are picnic tables out back.
Delicious! Purchased soup, salmon, and scallops over the weekend. All fabulous. The scallops have to be THE BEST I have had in years!!! So tender and sweet! Highly recommend Sheelen’s Fish Market for high quality seafood!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
