Matt's Red Rooster is a place for special occasions, and every day above ground is pretty special. I've never had a less than perfect experience at Matt's and recommend it to anyone. It gets no better than a cut of steak from Matt's grilled to perfection, until you try the pistachio/tiramisu layer cake that I hope becomes a regular item because it goes so well with espresso. In case Matt reads his reviews, that cake is my new favorite.

We ate on the porche and it was the perfect night for it.......... the best that flemington has to offering had the steak and my girlfriend had the fish special which she loved. If you want high end food but want to wear jeans this is the place for u. Menu has a lot's to offer and it's seasonal which I love.

What a wonderful spot in downtown Flemington! Located just off the main drag in an old home, this place is as charming as the food is delicious. There’s outdoor seating on street level, front porch, main level, and up a fairly steep flight of stairs on the second level. It’s BYOB so come prepared! Loved the atmosphere. Excellent service provided by David. And the meal? Oh, the meal. Bread service was great. Warm bread with a crisp crust, delicious salty butter, and an apple balsamic spread which was a bit tart for my taste. From their summer menu we shared risotto cakes topped with lump crab, fresh corn, lime, and honey. What a great combo! Then on to the grilled romaine salad. Somehow chef was able to impart a smokey grilled char while maintaining the crispness of the lettuce. A bit too much cheese for my taste and the cheese was like pre-shredded from the market, but tasty nonetheless. The risotto with scallops was wonderful. Appreciated that the scallops were not overcooked. The carrot and ginger flavors were lovely. Decaf coffee served with a mini biscotti — nice touch! Even my mint chocolate chip ice cream was attractively presented. But do wish I’d ordered the fruit and marscapone dessert; tasted my sister’s and it was awesome. Overall a wonderful evening. Will most definitely return next time I’m in this part of the world!

I hadn't been here for a while, after being here way too often over the years. It was nice to see the quality and service remain as high as always. Waitress was attentive but not overbearing, prix-fixed menu (Wednesdays and Thursdays typically) was excellent.

two problems last night. first cirn fritter tasted of cheap vegetable oil. not acceptable. perhaps use high quality olive oil and local butter? Second green beans weren’t trimmed. still had tops and tails on them. For $150. not excusable

The food was good! My go to here is the grilled romaine Ceasar salad, it's spectacular! I also had the gnocchi with butter and herbs, appitizer portion. The gnocchi was just OK. Coming from an Italian family, the gnocchi was not up to my personal standards, but it was good. My date had the dry aged rib eye. It came with mashed potatoes and broccoli and an entire head of roasted garlic. The rib eye was also good, but full of grizzle and a big fat end. We wouldn't get it again. Bread came with the meal, which was nice, the bread was good. It was served with a side of a balsamic tepenad of some sort and butter. The table we were sat at, was 2 foot by 2 foot. The plates barely fit on the table. Change your dinner ware so they at least for on the small tables. It was cramped at that table. No flowers on the table, definitely a man owned business. Overall, I would only go back for the salad. Dan, our server, was polite, professional and friendly. Dessert was the best part of the meal. Peanut butter bomb with a caramelized saltine under the bomb. And a lemon, blueberry marscapone dessert. It's a well run restaurant, the staff was organized and not harried. They knew what they were doing and they ran the restaurant well!

Vegetarian options: Vegetarians will find plenty here

Dietary restrictions: They will make it any was you like.

Parking: Plenty of free parking

Kid-friendliness: Not really a kid place

Wheelchair accessibility: It's not easy to get in. Multiple steps.

We just had our daughter's college graduation party at Matt's on Sunday, and it truly was wonderful. The food was amazing, from the delicious calamari and Matt's signature Caesar salad to the shrimp and pasta, and the flourless chocolate torte that was to die for. The service was exceptional, making it a wonderful day celebrating our daughter. Thank you, Matt and team, for creating such a wonderful experience for our celebration!

Our go-to restaurant for special occasions. We try to go when they have a special pre-fixe menu. My favorite was a menu made around local NJ corn. The bacon theme was also amazing. Every bite has been delicious. Highly recommended.

It was so loud in there on the second floor that I had a miserable time trying to enjoy myself. The foods pretty good but I was honestly disappointed with two of my courses on seafood Prix Fix menu. The scallop risotto was really amazing. The crab and lobster soup wasn't that flavorful and the lobster got completely overcooked in the hot broth. The prawns were cooked perfectly but just ok, I wouldn't say there was anything special about it. My partner got a steak, which was cooked inside perfectly, but had so much char on it that you could barely taste the meat. We're not used to high end restaurants so we were too embarrassed to send it back, and he ate the whole thing anyway.I'm sure some of the items on their menu are much tastier than others, because they are super popular, but I don't think we'll be back.

Matt’s Red Rooster is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warmth and professionalism from the incredible servers. Dan, in particular, always exceeds expectations with his impeccable service. The farm-to-table concept truly shines here, with each dish bursting with freshness and flavor. Whether it’s seafood or steak, every bite is cooked to perfection. And their bread pudding is always so unique but delicious. We also love their unique grilled romaine salad. I appreciate how they adapt their menus with the seasons, ensuring a fresh culinary experience every visit. Matt’s Red Rooster has quickly become our go-to spot, and we’ve never been disappointed. Highly recommend!
