Great unique spot on Stangl Street. They serve way more than just fish, but we are hold overs from when they were known as Blue Fish Grill. Best service around. BYOB.

***3 1/2 stars***
It's been years since I've been over here for a meal, so this was the first time I've been by under the rebranded Nova. I really liked Blue Fish and its seafood-centric menu; the menu still has a number of seafood items, but most of the edgier ones have been sacrificed in place of more Asian/Tex Mex cuisine. It's definitely not bad, but I thought it was a cut below the original Blue Fish and my takeaway was that they kind of messed with a good thing.
I came by here this past Saturday afternoon (3:30ish) with my OG chums. This little spot in Flemington is pretty cute, even in the dead of winter - there's a lot of edgy artisan-focused shops and a really nice coffee shop next door. The interior of Nova is...hard to describe. I'm honestly not trying to be offensive; it's technically nice, but just devoid of personality. An acquaintance of mine bought a 19th century house and then took out everything interesting and modernized it - it was reminiscent of that. There's just not a lot of character to it, which is surprising if you've been in any of the other nearby businesses, because they really hammer home the historic origins of this building as a ye olde factory. Feels like a real missed opportunity for a more unique dining experience.
I was hoping to hear some edgy specials involving some of the less-mainstream fish, but the one entree in that vein was centered on cod, which I'm pretty ambivalent about. As a result, I opted for the ala carte section of the menu and selected the grilled salmon with a side of mashed potatoes and wasabi aioli. Not bad; a solid helping of everything, with a well-seasoned piece of salmon. Really the only mild issue was the presentation value; as you can see in the attached picture, it's pretty barebones and could have used a garnish or something. But that's just a nitpick and arguably not even an issue.
The service was very good. Our waiter visited regularly and was particularly attentive about refilling the drinks. This was a quick meal, and that's a tribute to the turnaround time from ordering to receipt of the food.
This wasn't a negative experience by any means, but by very publicly declaring its affiliation/ties with the prior Blue Fish brand, to me it was just pointing out the selling points of the previous restaurant that aren't here anymore.

Always a wonderful time with my family!
We got take out late on a Saturday afternoon as we were at an event down the road and not from the area. We order a salad and it did not come with a fork or knife. The burger and fries were also cold and we picked up quickly. Food was good though.
Awesome menu. Fresh, generous, exciting menu. Definitely recommend the crab cakes. Low key, friendly service. Excellent value. Will be back. Shout out to Tom

We have been coming to Blue Fish Grill for years and while we miss it, we absolutely love the flavors of Nova! We love all of the apps, specials and of course the fried chicken sandwich. Service is always excellent. Oh and the Key Lime Pie is always an excellent dessert.

We have enjoyed Stacey and Kelly's great food and hospitality since we first discovered their original Blue Fish location on Central Avenue. Our first dinner at Nova last night did not disappoint us. My Tokyo tacos were delicious and my wife is still raving about her Shrimp and Grits. High praise considering that we spend three months each year in South Carolina.
We will be back.

Wonderful dinner here on Saturday with my parents. Everything was expertly prepared with fresh ingredients and care. Not a bad bite for anyone. Exactly what we expected being frequent patrons when it was BFG. Same great food, service and vibe with a new name and menu. Definitely recommend.

This menu was concise but creative and stuuuupid good. Birria nachos were particularly outstanding. One of those places where as the servers walk by with other people's plates you're like "OoOoo I want THAT!" But like, for every single thing. Also the half lemonade half iced tea was perfectly executed, skip the fountain soda and just get it. I'm so excited for you to try this spot you're gonna love it.

Great upgrade to BFG. The food was very good and reasonably priced. We had the crab dip, fried chicken sandwich and sushi sushirito. Everything was delicious. The only thing we didn't like was the "chocolate pudding" made with Avocado. It was way to sweet and overpriced.
