It's very rare that I run across something on a menu that I've never seen before, in this case, tonjiru, a pork and root vegetable miso soup, which was phenomenal.

I have never had a better pork Katsu in my life! My friend offered to take me here and I had no idea what a treat this was. I had to take one home for my son. When I say the pork was still crispy when I got home 20mins later! Perfection and can't wait to go back!

It’s not the first time I come to this restaurant. I love their curry is not the usual one like fried port chop or fried shrimp. Their meat burger is super tender & juicy even it takes 20 min to cook. We don’t mind the wait. Also even just the veggies curry, can tell the veggies are fresh & well prepared one. Their miso soup has full ingredients! lots of white carrot slices, scallion, and some pork slices. The flavor is soooo rich. Unlike those mix with water one from usual Japanese restaurants. Their portions are kind of big to us so we never need to order appetizer.

Small cute place , the "spicy crispy" was delicious. So was the toro . Never tried Japanese curry , pretty good , korokkoecurry was very tasty a bit sweet . Katsu curry seemed most popular.miso soup delicious and different with picked cabbage in it . Overall, a great experience with delicious food and a cozy atmosphere. Would definitely recommend giving this place a try!

I've been here twice so far and see myself coming back plenty more times in the future. I got the korokke curry (requested it spicy) both times. The croquette is filled with so much pumpkin- I absolutely loved it. The spicy sauce definitely had a kick to it. Portion size was very good for the price. I was fully satisfied by the end of the meal. Space is a bit small so you might have to wait if you come during peak dinner time. There is also a parking lot behind the restaurant, though it can get a bit tight. Would definitely recommend this place!

Generous portions. Nice and hot food with delicious curry. The pork katsu is perfectly crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside. The pickled cabbage is delicious and a good flavor profile to take in between bites of the curry.The miso soup is delicious that is packed with fresh vegetables.Such a feel good relaxed feeling after eating here.

Honestly, Sazanami is my favorite restaurant in NJ. I have been here over 10 times in the last year and a half and love it every time I visit! Sazanami is a pretty small place and it shares a parking lot with two other restaurants. Parking can be a bit funky but there is plenty outside the area! Personally, I've never had a hard time getting a seat, but I'm always a part of two. I would highly suggest trying the pepper tuna, gyoza, pork fried curry, and ebi curry! Not to forget, they make the best Tanjiru too!Parking: Minimal parking available and shared with other buildings. However plenty of parking in the area.
