Great, spicy, crispy fried chicken. The flavor is great and the food is fresh. Would definitely recommend!

I never thought id find a chicken sandwich that can top Chick-fil-A's spicy chicken deluxe, but boy was i wrong the hot chicken sandwich here is crazy good. We ordered here twice, the first week we found this precious gem. Try it. Trust me. You will thank me

Went there when half of the menu is not available. Went into the store and no staff is at the front. (A little before 12) After deciding what to eat and order, staff told me credit card machine is not working.(no sign or prior notice) Had to order from yelp and wait on site for another 20 mins after all things happened prior. Food is okay. Just that overall experience was bad.

Very good chicken sandos. It is on the super salty side.. so keep that in mind. Not sure how you can ask for it to be less salty as the chicken seems to be pre seasoned. But still, very tastes and worthy of trying

Ordered the "mild" chicken sandwich , as I was warned about the spiciness of the hotter options. Mild had a nice kick to it. Fried pickles were crunchy & delicious. Huge portions. Great prices, yummy food, and good service. Will definitely be going back soon!

OMG. Popeyes? Shake Shack? Chickfila? This place is way better by 100%! the seasoning of the chicken sandwich and the sides were absolutely out of this world! each bite was super flavorful and filling. the chicken had that crispy texture where you can hear the crispyness with each bite. there's parking right out front and the service is quick. their meals are definitely worth every single penny, just be careful with their spice levels because it's genuinely super spicey after level one in my opinion! otherwise, i can't wait to come back!

Ate here for the first time today and it definitely won't be the last...saw the reviews on here, gave it a shot and it more than lived up to the hype! I got the sandwich/side/drink combo and added 1 tender (bc I wanted to try the hottest sauce they make)....want to say it was $13 plus $3 for an extra tender or side, but came out to just under $20? Maybe I was charged an upcharge and wasn't told, I didn't even give it any thought until after I left. I ordered the sandwich w HOT sauce, it has "kale slaw" on it, along w some magical sauce and pickles. The sandwich was outta this world, probably the best chicken sandwich I've ever had and the heat at HOT is perfect. The tender I ordered UNDER DOG (the hottest) and it was also incredible, good amount of heat, but not too much where you lose flavor at all. Now for the mac n cheese, it was terrible, I hated it on the first bite and tried a second and didn't touch it again. To be fair, I'm really picky when it comes to mac n cheese, but this was just all around bad. The place is super clean, the staff is really nice and the chicken is delicious, can't wait to go back, I'll just try another side!

This is my go-to fried chicken sandwich place. I crave for it every week. They don't skimp out on the meat and it's always so juicy and thiccccc! The kale coleslaw and the sauce makes it MWAH. Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty cause boy you gonna need ton of napkins. But it's worth every single bite!

Been to Underdog Chicken 3 times now over the course of the past 12 months. I should have reviewed earlier admittingly, Underdog Chicken was amazing the first time I went, with each subsequent visit the place lowered in my experience until the most recent time I went, was just flat out disappointed. First time I went I enjoyed the Level 3 Tenders with a side of mac and cheese. The place was pretty new and it was delicious. The spice really kicked, it wasn't just spicy, it tasted good too. I'm a huge fan of spicy food but I thought I started with something that I know I'd be able to enjoy. Second time tried the Level 4 Tenders. Spice was really kicking in, still enjoyed the food but the price had increased within some 2-3 months since my first visit. In addition to the price increase, the combos no longer offered a complimentary drink, so the prices went up and we lost our free drink. I can understand many places were increasing prices due to covid, but the first time I had gone was still during the pandemic, I thought it was weird it was increasing within the pandemic, but whatever. I had a side of the fries and barely managed to stomach my food without burning off my tongue but the food was still good. Third time was the real bummer time. Prior to this time Underdog Chicken only really has two main things on the menu, some sort of Chicken Tender, whether it be on a bun or just the straight tender, or wings. This place when I first came had 3 Combo meals: Sandwich+Side+Drink, 3 Tenders+Side+Drink, 3 Tenders+3Wings+Side+Drink. They completely removed the wings from the menu so no longer had Combo 3, no longer offered drinks same as the last visit as well, and increased the prices again. The worst part about the price increase was that the Combo meals did not actually save you a single cent. The individual items + side price on the menu cost the EXACT same as the Combo meals. Never had I seen a place that had 2 main meal options opt to downsize to just one. To top it off I tried the Level 5, it wasn't as spicy as the Level 4 I got on my second trip. The spice level went down. Overall a horrible visit, don't think I'll be returning. To sum it quickly: When it started they had tenders+wings. Combos that had the main option + side + drink, and cost cheaper than the individual items. How it ended: No longer had wings. Less spice on their chicken than before. Removed complimentary drink in the combo. Combo costed the same as individual items all added together.

I wish the heat level was higher. Didn't expect chicken grease to drip all over the place. Fried pickles were way too dry.

Come here for quality chicken sandwiches. The chicken is tender and juicy. The slaw inside the sandwich is light, flavorful, and crispy. Giving a refreshing zest to each bite of the sandwich.I like to think that this is the East Coast’s version of Howlin’ Rays. The only reason I’m giving this 4-stars is due to the misleading spice level. I got the spiciest level, but I did not taste any spice whatsoever. I may be biased because I normally enjoy spice that knocks me to the ground; however, I felt that Underdog’s spiciest level was not spicier than even tabasco sauce. All in all, try this place. It’s definitely worth it. Just don’t come here expecting spicy food.Edit (Oct 2021): I revisited Underdog Hot Chicken 1 year later. I have to dock 1 star from my original review. They definitely make their chicken spicier now, which is a plus. However, this time my chicken came out cold, and their slaw just isn’t the same - it tasted old and smelt of stillwater. Quality went down after a year.

This WAS my favorite fried chicken place in NJ. It was crispy, spicy and kale slaw was to die for. But it’s been a month or two now that it keep going downhill. 1. Chicken tenders only (no more bone in chicken for a long time. 2. The chicken tenders isn’t that good, it’s wet (instead of juicy), the spice isn’t consistent as well. I CAME HERE 3 times since they only had tenders… I still come hoping the flavor is back but nope. 3. The kale slaw is never the same as it use to be (the smell etc.. all off). I been coming here and been giving it lots of chances. No more. I think they change ownership.

This is my favorite Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich spot in the East Coast. I recommend this place to all my friends. I'm one to grow Carolina Reapers in my backyard. The spice level here is the real deal. I make sure to go here at least once every two weeks/month. Everyone I've recommended this place to, enjoys it as well. The staff is great, the place has good vibes AND the food is delicious. Thinking of the flavor in every bite makes me hungry now as I write this review.

Ok adorable little spot, clean, modern friendly staff! Food, we ordered 2 meals: monster chicken sandwich (one mild, one medium), nice serving of crispy fries (needed a pinch more salt) a nice serving of fried pickles and a side of Mac and cheese. 1 crazy dog tender Mild sandwich was perfect for my husband. 2 large tenders, slaw, sauce and pickles on a toasted brioche bun. Crispy tenders seasoned well, very balanced but not too cumbersome to get in your mouth. Medium, same as mild and yes, one notch higher which was perfect for me. Fried pickles were larger rings but very crispy, their house seasoning is on them which is entirely unnecessary because the pickle and breading itself is perfect. Mac and cheese was a little eh, pasta was too soft and the sauce was a bit runny. House seasoning on this was actually unpleasant to me, it was too much concentrated on top and added too much texture to the mushy pasta. It was the end of the night so I'm not going to write off the Mac and cheese because that's the nature of the end of the night. Now this crazy dog. This crazy dog is one of the hottest things I have ever put in my mouth. We both cut a piece off either end of the tender maybe an inch each with a corner of the white bread provided. Sweet mother of all that is holy....I bit mine in half and at first nibble it is flavorful and yes hot....then I inhaled...an absolutely utterly ridiculously hiccup inducing searing hot face numbing moment. They provided milk and thank god!!! Everything comes skewered with a stack of pickles, including you guessed it the hot tender which we took the pickles off of, and j know this because I JUST ate left overs (we did not being the tender home just in case) and I found the hot pickle! That's a fun game So really only critique is the over abundance of house seasoning on everything. And maybe that the fries could be a little bit crisper/darker and a touch more salt. I'd def go back...I would NEVER eat the crazy dog ever ever again. Ever.
