I want to start out by saying this place is adorable and offers delicious breakfasts. What is unfortunate is when I asked the waitress if there was a charge to use a credit card, she said, no, but then discussed it with a male employee in the back, who responded with, "Oh God!" I don't think they knew I heard this, but I did. It is not a good look when a customer hears you talking about them. It was a simple and valid question, and I asked about it very nicely. I just think young people are naïve when it comes to customer service. They are so used to mouthing off on social media, they forget that they can't do that on the job, especially when working for someone else, as that can hurt their business. I did send a private message about this matter, but I never heard back, so this is why I am posting the situation here. I want the owners to know, so this can become a teachable moment for their employees.

Was looking forward to the sausage gravy and biscuits. The biscuit was so hard i couldn't cut it with a knife. Even though it was smothered in gravy. When I asked for a new one I was told there were not any more. Very disappointing. Also no bathroom.

Cute, tiny luncheonette. There are very few places to sit inside, but you can sit outside as well. The menu has plenty of choices but is not overwhelming. They do stop taking breakfast orders at 1 pm sharp! Two of us ordered different chicken wraps and the other a burger. Food was tasty, but nothing I would rave about.

It is one of the best breakfast places in Galloway/Smithville. Fresh grilled zucchini or fresh fruit options. Very clean place and super friendly staff. It doesn't hurt that you can check out Smithville Village when you're done.

When prepared correctly the food meets all expectations of a quality breakfast/lunch spot. I have recently stopped going here despite the taste due to the staff forgetting to include sides that are a part of the meals as well as not including items I was charged extra to have on the meal. This was not a one time occurrence. Staff cannot refund this mistake and only provided a “we owe you one” when I called about my meal being charged extra and not receiving the items.

Quaint little cafe. The atmosphere was very fitting for Smithville village. Good portions, nice wraps and sandwiches. Nothing exotic

Ate there today for the first time. Lunch was delicious and the coffee was great. Definitely will be going back.

I wasn't expecting much just looking for somewhere for a quick lunch, was pleasantly surprised by this place. Prices were very reasonable especially for a tourist destination, and the burgers were surprising good! They were huge, cooked to perfection piled high with quality toppings, and served on a toasted brioche bun. The onion ring and corn dogs were also very good. They mentioned that their sauces were made in house as well and they were also very good. Seriously one of the best take-out Burgers I've ever had. We will definitely be back! I'm also very indecisive and the guy behind the counter was very patient and answered my questions which I really appreciate!

Parking is near Smithville Bakery & Coffee Shop, and you have to cross the bridge from there.

Another one star review for Lakeside Grill. My 96-year-old mother and I travel 25 minutes to eat at Lakeside Grill in Smithville every week. We eat on various days and infrequent times so virtually all of the staff knows us to some degree. With the exception of James, as I struggle to bring her wheelchair into the small cafe none of the staff ever help hold the door open even when we are the only customers that morning. I would struggle with one hand pushing open the door and the other pulling the wheelchair while they watched.

Today, September 4, 2024, for the first time she ordered crab cake benedict which at $16.99 is probably the most expensive breakfast item. The crab cake was so overcooked that it was crunchy. Of the two eggs she took a bite or two of one or about 25% of the entire meal. The other egg was untouched. She politely explained to the waitress that it "just didn't taste right" (she's had eggs benedict before) and asked for an order of chicken tenders in its place. This is her usual fare.

When the check arrived, we were charged full price for everything: $49.80 for two people. This didn't set well with us. When she complained to the unsympathetic waitress she was basically told, "Well, you ate half of it." After several minutes she was offered 20% off the entire meal or $9.96. She wasn't pleased because most restaurants would give a full refund if you're not satisfied. Another waitress, who seemed to have more seniority, offered to call the owner. After waiting several more minutes, she returned again (lying) that my mother ate "half the meal", and the best the owner could do was offer 50% off the crab cake benedict or now a lower $8.50 refund.

Already disgusted, rather than finish her meal my mother put her food in a to go box, and we left a cash tip on the table and left. The restaurant was getting busy, and a customer helped us with the door. After all of this the waitresses couldn't provide a little additional customer service and hold the door open for us.

Needless to say, Lakeside Grill lost a steady customer who frequently tipped around 30%.

Nice little restaurant in the Smithville village. The food was delicious and the server was a very nice and informative guy answering all questions to us and the other customers. I had the crab melt sandwich, which was great. My son had a burger with a side of spinach which he loved. It must have been really good because nobody loves spinach. Lol
