I am very disappointed with my experience at Kara Kakes. I was very particular about the cake design for my son's first birthday party. I spoke to the staff multiple times about design ideas and visited the store on a few occasions. In the end, I went with a cake design that I found on the store's instagram page. A cake that had been previously made by the store. I asked that the cake be replicated identically to the one in the image. The staff told me what size and detail was needed to replicate the design. We discussed the shiny black coloring, number of buttons, 3-d jacket lapels, shape and size of the collar, design of the white shirt, and most importantly the bow that was the centerpiece of the cake. Unfortunately, the cake that was made for my son was different. When we came to pick it up, the cake was matte (not glossy), the collar was missing the front triangles and disproportionately large, it had 3 buttons (not 2), no detail on the tuxedo shirt, the lapels were not 3-d, and the bow was massively disproportionate to the cake, flat, and looked different from the style in the picture. It also had a double center ribbon that looked like lips (horrible!). After I got noticeably upset, they took the cake into the back and "fixed" the front of the bow to remove the lips and added triangles to the collar (that looked more like sloppy glued on cat ears). The store told me that it was close enough to the picture (it was a black tuxedo!) and I should be happy with the work. They said That none of my guests would know better. I said fair enough but this is materially different from what we discussed, ordered, and wanted. I came to this store for a custom designed cake based on agreed specifications - this was not what was created for me. No explanation could be provided for why they made the design changes. I continued to be very upset and said that at least the bow needs to be fixed. They refused to make any changes and essentially said take it or leave it. Not that a discount could have fixed this horrible situation, but one wasn't even offered and when my Husband asked - it was refused. Left with no option as we needed a birthday cake and it was the day before the party (and it would be literally impossible to find a replacement cake in the short timespan), my husband encouraged me to just take the cake. I regret doing this and should have just left it at the store. It did not photograph well and tasted horrible. Save yourself the disappointment and rudeness and go somewhere else. I wish I had.

Have been going since 2019/2020. Cupcakes look very good, tried them, fresh moist and flavorful. However after the years passed by there was one cake i was left a bit disappointed, Most birthday cakes have been beautiful!!!! However, my last birthday cake i was quite disappointed in the design. Moon was not the best cutout, and stars were not solid like i stated in my emails. But i know i could have provided them with more specific details...just tried their st joseph day pastries and they could have been a bit sweeter with cannoli cream and pastry cream, but just a preference for me. Service and ambiance has been great, Thank you kara kakes!!!

I had a birthday party for my daughter at Kara’s Kake Studio over the weekend, and overall it was an excellent experience! Abegail and Marisa were fantastic, they kept the girls engaged and entertained the entire time. They were both very kind and helpful, and I appreciated all their patience! The studio is also clean and perfectly decorated, I only brought a couple of balloons and didn’t have to worry about any other decorations. Thank you Kara Kakes for making my daughter’s birthday so special!

Hello, on Saturday I went to buy a cake at Kara Kakes but they did not have it in stock so I decided to buy the cupcakes that they had in the display case, when I got home I tasted them and they were dry, the decoration was nice, but the cupcake was not gentle.

There were 5 people standing there (workers). I stand in front the register and nobody greeted me or offered to help me. They were too busy talking about their nail’s place and some other stuff. One girl that wasn’t too much into the conversation came to help me the others continue busy with their conversation.
I love going into Kara Kakes, every cake I order is beautiful and exceeds my expectations, and every cupcake more delicious than the next. Desserts are so perfectly designed and decorated. Kara Kakes really goes above and beyond.

I WAS a customer here for a long time. I have had minimal issues with cupcakes/cakes I ordered. This specific time, I ordered a cake made with a lot of cream cheese. Upon pick up the associate stated the cake was just iced and it needed to be refrigerated. I told her I came from far, as I always do, 50 minutes away, and would not be home for that long. She did not say anything else. Regardless to say, the whole cake collapsed. Could not be served as it looked ridiculous and sloppy. When I wrote an email, not only was Kara Kakes cheap and disgusting with their customer response, but nonetheless they blamed it on me. I left it out too long. Yeah ok, I didnt make a $70 cake nor am I a baker. If a cake needs refrigeration immediately, this should always be stated upon ordering, on receipts, and not sold to people who live far away. Shame on you Kara Kakes for making orders and having such poor communications that people who work hard have no cake to display as it collapsed. What a poor way to do business. I would hope your lack of ability to take responsibility will improve.

We don't buy desserts often for obvious reasons, but when we do Kara Kakes is one of my family's favorite destinations. The flavors rotate by weekday + season so there is always (fortunately and unfortunately!) something new to sample. As someone who used to live in NYC, I have had a hard time adapting to the restaurant offerings outside of the city (they just aren't quite up to standard) but this place equals, if not beats, the NYC cupcakeries.

Ordered a cake from here for mygrandma’s birthday and it was as delicious as it was beautiful. I ordered a cake to feed 45-50 people and this cake was massive! everyone got a very nice size slice and we even had some left over. additionally, the staff was very friendly. So happy to have found Kara Kakes!

I came into Kara Kakes after looking up 'gluten free near me' (hint hint) and realizing I was parked right out front The only review I read that mentioned gluten free said they had very few options. While it's true I got the only one they had, I still thoroughly enjoyed it! And I was also told that I could special order almost any cupcake as gluten free. I will be doing that one of these days, after having tasted the Apple Pie cupcake, which is the current GF dlavor of the monthw. It was very moist, and the apple pie filling sitting on top didn't make it soggy at all. It had a delicious apple pie filling as well, which combined with the whip cream frosting, made for multiple delicious, well rounded bites! Thanks, Marissa, for being so friendly and knowledgeable.. I will be back!
