La Cipollina is a true gem. The atmosphere is warm and elegant, the service is polished and genuinely welcoming, and every dish is prepared with care and authenticity. From perfectly executed pastas to beautifully balanced entrées, the food is consistently outstanding. An ideal spot for a special occasion—or anytime you want exceptional Italian dining.

We waited almost fifteen minutes to be approached.Though it was a small venue,Servers passed us numerous times. The food was mediocre at best. The cheese cake I ordered was dry and burnt on the bottom. Maybe it was a bad day,but to my liking, the place could use a gift of polish,to shine up its service.

Never before have I had a server visibly scowl when we declined to order appetizers. She then came back after we ordered to say “your dinners are going to take longer because you declined appetizers.” Same scowl when we didn't order dessert and then ignored us for 20 minutes while we waited for the check. I get it that they earn their tips on the total bill but neither my date or I eat much. Even with just ordering entrees with took home leftovers. It's a shame because the food was great.
Loved the atmosphere/ambiance. The waiter was very personable and professional, food was very good. Would defenately recommend.
We chose this restaurant to celebrate a very special occasion — the 63rd anniversary of our first date — and unfortunately the experience was deeply disappointing. Although the restaurant was not full when we arrived at 6:00 pm, we were seated at a large round table meant for five people, even though more suitable square tables were available. We accepted the table at the time, but in hindsight we should have asked to be moved. My wife's seat faced directly toward the kitchen, which significantly detracted from the ambiance. In addition, our table was positioned in a main traffic path: waitstaff repeatedly passed directly in front of us, and guests being escorted to a large gathering in the back room also walked right past our table. This made what we had hoped would be a quiet, intimate dinner feel anything but. The table next to us eventually filled with five guests and was so close that their conversations were impossible to ignore. As the evening went on and the restaurant filled, the noise level in our area became overwhelming. The food itself was mixed. The lobster bisque was excellent. My salmon entrée was acceptable but unremarkable. My wife did enjoy her veal marsala. Desserts — gelato and crème brûlée — were fine, as expected. The waitstaff deserves praise for being attentive and professional. However, due to how tightly the tables were placed, servers sometimes had to reach across my wife to clear my plate, which was uncomfortable. We have dined here many times in the past, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Sadly, this evening fell far short of what we expected for such a meaningful celebration, and we will not be returning.
LaCipolinna consistently delivers on service, quality and ambience. Their professional staff assures a true old world dining experience that has been lost in most restaurants. Little things like changing out the silverware, well dressed wait staff, welcoming management, bread service in a beautifully decorated dining room shows they are experts in their industry. Always enjoy dining here.

The restaurant is very pretty. Our servers, Liz, Camryn and Joe could not have been more friendly or attentive. We were surprised to learn they were all in high school given how professional they were. Our meal was delicious and the bananas foster dessert was a big hit. We also appreciated that the noise level in the restaurant was low enough that it was easy to have a conversation.
This was our second visit during restaurant week due to the spectacular service, amazing food and ambiance on the first visit. We were treated so well we could not wait to return to try other selections on the menu. This visit was better than first, welcoming us as family. This restaurant has become my new favorite place to dine. Thank you to the amazing staff, Ben and Carson for treating us. Amina was very attentive taking care of our table. We cannot wait to return. The fresh mozzarella, the ricotta crostini and ricotta lemon cheesecake are the go to items!! Thank you for a wonderful night out.
so good every time. one of the best authentic italian menus in freehold. love this place so much!
We have been here before and liked it quite a bit. Thus time, We were disappointed. We were placed right next to a very loud while the place was empty. Our service was very slow, again, while the place was empty. We came and had the restaurant week menu But honestly, it really wasn't a good value. The food as usual was very good, but my cavatelli was sort of like macaroni and cheese. I think that's probably because it was part of the restaurant week menu. The eggplant is always amazing and my husband‘s steak was delicious although it was a $20 up charge! All in all. I will probably come back to have their normal menu but would not waste my time on the restaurant week menu. In terms of service it seemed like everyone was new? I am used to seeing regular wait staff there so not sure what is going on. Hope it was just an off night?
Good solid meal and great service. Prices a bit high but we took advantage of restaurant week and those specials were quite good. Biggest complaint was it was cold! We mentioned as soon as we sat down. No offer of another table. I had to sit on my coat as even chair was cold and uncomfortable.
