This place is a gem! We dropped our highschoolers at Grat Adventure and drove 15 min to come to Saffron. Best decision ever. The food is delicious and for the right price. There is plenty of parking and the staff is super friendly.

Underwhelming First Visit to Saffron Indian in Freehold
Saffron Indian is conveniently located at the corner of a major Main st intersection in Freehold, NJ, making it easy to find. The restaurant has an elegant Indian decor that sets high expectations upon entering. Our waiter was friendly and accommodating, which was a positive start.
Unfortunately, the food didn’t live up to the ambiance. We ordered the mixed sizzler to start, but it left us disappointed. The dish lacked freshness, with most items being chewy and seeming reheated. For mains, we had the dal makhani, which was decent—I’d rate it a 7/10. The chicken tikka masala, however, was only about a 6/10, not particularly memorable.
Overall, it was an underwhelming experience. With so many great Indian restaurants within a 20-mile radius, Saffron doesn’t stand out. If you’re after something more authentic, I’d recommend Mocka in Eatontown, about 15 minutes away. For those seeking a fusion of traditional and modern flavors, Aarzu right down the street is spectacular. Another option if you are closer to Red Bank is also a place called Saffaron, just delicious.

The sizzler items here are truly amazing, with a variety of options that cater to different tastes. Apart from the sizzlers, their traditional Indian dishes are also outstanding, featuring authentic flavors and fresh ingredients. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff is friendly and attentive. Stopped by for a quick bite on our way but it turned out to be a nice restaurant. Food was delicious and we asked for mild food but it was still tasteful.
We had Lasooni Gobhi (Cauliflower with garlic), Daal fry, Paneer Kadai and Naan basket.
Everything came very promptly and piping hot. The portions were large and we couldn’t even finish half of it all.
Definitely recommend this place of in vicinity.
