This is a hidden gem in Morris County right on the border of Berkeley Heights and Long Hill. The restaurant feels like you are right in Mexico -- the ambiance, service, and food are exquisite. I love the Sonora and Mazatlan! Only thing is the restaurant is very small with minimal parking.

The food here is nothing like it use to be. The fajitas wraps were cold, not even a bit warm, chicken was dried out, the guacamole was watery and the refined beans were more like pureed beans and had a slimy texture to them. Everything was way too salty and the chips were stale. Not that I eat fast food, but I imagine it would taste something like this. Definitely will not be going back!

Best mexican food in the area. Its tight inside, not very big. No reservations BYOB.
Fantastic food. Unbelievable lunch specials (until 2:30). Regular menu offers anything you might want, but it is a bit pricey and worth it. BYO. Last time we did that we shared our home made sangria with the staff. We made friends for life. This is going back to 1997 for that incident. Go! And enjoy

I was here almost 30 years ago and happened to be in the area and thought I would give it a try --I had wonderful first time visit and had really great mexican food in Mexico including Mexico City --I wanted to show my husband from the midwest how good Mexican cuisine is--what a disappointment --the fajitas their specialty was not even good enough for pig slop -- we shared it since we were not really hungry but I wanted to see if I should be going more often again--Nope uninspired slop
