A great meal! First time at Max's. Decided to go because the menu looks great and ended up getting special's not on the menu. The atmosphere was great. I loved the interior, with the exposed brick. Very unassuming. You almost pass it. The bar is amazing. I would definite;y go back. Our server was very attentive and polite.
Some of the best seafood I've ever had. I got the everything encrusted salmon and my wife got the surf and turf. Hands down best calamari I've had. Great ambiance and service. We will definitely be going back.
Max's mussels never disappoint. Also had the crusted tuna and it was off the charts. I am so happy they are open for lunch again even if it is selected days.
Recently enjoyed a nice family outing at Max's for dinner. Our waitress was prompt, pleasant and took care of all our needs. We had crab cakes, filet, lobster ravioli and the mixed seafood grill. All of our dishes looked great, and everyone really enjoyed their selection. I've dined here before and have enjoyed every selection i have tried.
Max's only had 1 server for the entire restaurant and bar. This made everything extremely slow and painful. The server was professional and great but she had to do EVERYTHING.
A retro cafe with classic and trendy food we had a mix off the menu and specials. The mussels were plump and flavorful calamari crispy but not over cooked. The scallops special was incredible please put on new menu also blackened mahi was flavorful. Tried chocolate mousse which is not overly sweet as dark chicolate; blueberry-lemon cheesecake perfect for summer and cappuccino creme brulee which might have kept me up late lol. We will be back as a new menu is in works.
The definition of a hidden gem. It seems to appear out of nowhere in the middle of a neighborhood but don't let that fool you. The food and service always rivals what you would get in any fancier location. We've been here a few times and have never had less than a perfect experience.
Quiet for a Friday night. Had Mixed Seafood Grill. Food great , service attentive. Enjoyed the live music from the Guitarist in the bar.
Food was delightful and service was good. Only one complaint....we were having soft drinks (diet soda) with our meal but were unaware that the glasses of soda were not refillable. When we were given the bill of fare we learned that we were charged for each refill adding 5 extra charges for our party's refills. We paid it and did not complain but felt we could have been made aware that our beverages were not refillable.
We dined at Max’s last evening for Valentine’s Day. The special four course menu had a variety of options and the food was cooked to perfection. The place was full, yet the service remained professional and upbeat. We will definitely be back soon!

My wife and I had appetizers and dinner at Maxs. We ordered fried calamari and Thai mussels as appetzers. Both were excellent and copious. Alone really would have been sufficient for dinner, but we split a main course broiled salmon and we're not disappointed. Reasonably priced meal and drinks. Definitely going back.

Max's is a consistently good experience. We had a drink at the bar which is quaint and friendly (they make a great manhattan) then sat down to an outstanding dinner. Mussels in red and clams casino apps were delicious . The four of us fought over the mussels. My linquine and clams in brothy spicy red sauce was the best I've had in a long while - including my own.
My husband & I went Sunday of Labor Day wknd. The restaurant was fairly empty & quiet which was kind of nice. But, I believe they may have been short staffed, we waited to see a hostess for about 5 min. We were seated & no one came to table for almost ten min.we stayed, ate & it was just ok.
