Max's Seafood Cafe

Had high hopes considering the countless good reviews I had seen for Max's. The crab cakes we ordered were predominantly filling and had trace amounts of crab. This was the same with the crab dip we got as an appetizer. The shrimp cocktail was a very good size, however it only came with three shrimp which we thought was not reflective of the price. The grilled seafood platter was bland and didn't have much flavor. The rice looked and tasted like it was from a supermarket Amarillo rice mix. Overall disappointed considering with tip it was a $150 meal. Will not be dining with them again unfortunately.

We have been to Max's a few times. We always have a great meal. The menu has some unique items along with some standard fare. We visited on a Friday night and there was live music which was enjoyable. Service is great and drink refills come quickly. It's nice to walk in a restaurant that has an old bar/eatery vibe and knows what they are. Great atmosphere, along with great food and drinks.

I enjoyed dining here! My party arrived late. While waiting, the server was very attentive. Even after they arrived, she was attentive. At times, a little ro much. Perhaps she wa being mindful if closing time (2 hrs later), but we felt a little rushed. The food was delicious. I left my food but quickly returned to find the server had placed it on the bar. She must have known I would circle back. I look forward to dining here again soon, and having everyone on time!

We went there to eat but the doors were locked. I called twice and left a message about and I sent a text about 36 minutes late I received a text message saying yes they were open I said the doors were locked they oh let me check something and I never heard anything else. Oh well

Always an amazing meal. We love the bartender Jon. Always has a great energy! Will definitely be back!

Went on a Wednesday night, the place was almost empty. The service was excellent and the food was good. My wife had salmon which was excellent. I had fried flounder and shrimp. It seemed a little over cooked, but was ok. Portions were large and more than enough. Desert was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant.

The food at Max's Seafood was superb! There's a nice ambiance in the restaurant. The server was very attentive. There's always a delicate balance with the frequency of checking in on customers. While I appreciated the service, at times, it felt we were being hurried to order. This was approx. 7pm; I believe they close at 8:30pm. So, I somewhat understand the need to get the order to the kitchen. Overall, the calamari appetizer was delicious. The Grilled Seafood Platter was delicious! And, I enjoyed the Pomegranate Martini. This was a great choice to dine for my birthday!

My husband and I had such a great experience here. The mussels were absolutely delicious, so flavorful and cooked perfectly. The appetizers were just as impressive. The drinks were also spot on. Not to mention, the staff. They were all so friendly, attentive, and very welcoming. We will definitely be back!

Very good spot for seafood and italian. Great bar area with good drink and draft selection. Smaller dining area so the bar is key when the dining room is busy. Very enjoyable meal.

Such beautiful architecture in this quaint restaurant. They have preserved the beauty by keeping the decor simple and relevant. There are so many good selections on the menu, so flavorful! I ordered the specials, fried green tomatoes and homemade gnocchi in a blush sauce. The server was kind and attentive, and the other staff so friendly. There is also a private parking lot across the street. Definitely will be back!

Although our food was very good, midway through the meal I discovered a thin strip of metal, most likely from a scrubbing pad or wire brush used to clean the grill/pan, in my entree. The server was apologetic and offered us a free dessert. I pressed the issue so the meal I could not finish was ultimately comped. I was shocked a manager did not come out, as metal within food is a significant safety hazard. We loved the original Max’s, but sadly, this will be our last visit.
