great looking place, real old school. food is blah, service is blah. went with a friend who was a regular about 4 years ago, we both agreed to never return. salads were a 5 on a scale of 1-10, the soup a 5, ( salty), the pasta was awful, and almost terrible. service sucked, very inattentive, kids training behind the bar. no scene here either, just a bunch of old farts eating over priced bad Italian food. any local pizzeria is noticeably better that this place - please close.

This is my favorite restaurant in ALL of NY and NJ. It’s a tiny, quaint, intimate, super relaxing corner place with maybe 20 or so tables (if that) and a big horse shoe bar. It is a very special place I have frequented many times. Located in a charming neighborhood, it’s a time machine back to quieter, gentler times where no one is a stranger. The BEST BEST BEST Italian food ever (I am 1/2 Sicilian, half Roman). Simple, massivly flavorful, just magnificent and the absolute MOST SPECTAULAR VEAL Marsala I have ever had. EVER! Say hi to John the bartender. He’s awesome, totally chill, totally professional, and an absolutely lovely human being.

I came here for the first time a few nights ago and just want to say I’m incredibly impressed. Their food is one of the BEST I’ve think I’ve ever had. The bread, salad, mozzarella sticks, chicken parm are to die for. But I have to brag about that limoncello mascarpone cheesecake, that was a slice of cake made in heaven!! Absolutely love their food, the atmosphere was intimate, and the service was impeccable. The waiters were so kind and attentive to us. Overall amazing experience and I will be back!! 🥰

If I could give zero stars, I would. I had a 7:15 reservation and walked in expecting a nice evening—big mistake. By 7:45, I still hadn’t been seated, and the staff couldn’t give me a clear answer on when my table would be ready. It felt like they were actively avoiding us, disappearing to the back whenever we tried to get an update.

What’s the point of taking reservations if you can’t honor them? I get that things get busy, but a simple honest update goes a long way. Instead, they left us standing there in limbo, no apology, no communication, nothing.

This is hands-down the worst service I’ve ever experienced. If you value your time, don’t even bother coming here—you’ll likely leave just as hungry and frustrated as I did. Complete waste of an evening.

This place has gone downhill food and service wise. The last time I came the food was mediocre. I came again the night of December 14th with a reservation for two people at 6:30. They refused to honor my reservation once I arrived because they had a much larger party coming at 7:00. I was told “it’s the holiday season you should not expect a reservation to be honored”. The people who run this restaurant should be ashamed of themselves. If you have a reservation here know that it may not be honored.

This place was close by and looked pretty authentic from the pictures online. We we're not disappointed! Great food! Great atmosphere. Wonderful staff. I had the manicotti with hot sausage. A meatball for an appetizer in the mozzarella for an appetizer as well at our table. Everything was great.

I love everything about GP's. I love the old style decor, the food is out of this world. Always bring my coworkers here when they come from out of town!!

I do not recommend visiting this restaurant. I frequented it for years. However, it has recently seen a downfall in quality. On 12/14/24 I made a reservation via Resy. When I arrived they were unable to seat us and said “you should not expect reservations to be honored during the holiday season”. Isn’t that the point of the reservation, to reserve a seat? I advise going to dinner elsewhere and not wasting your time at this restaurant which does not value your time or prioritize customer service.

Nostalgic, reliable, no frills, consistently very good. I've been there dozens of times over the years and they never disappoint. I love this place. It's not on the level of a super high end NYC ristorante but it's not trying to be. One of the best local, old school style places in NJ.

Finally tried this old school Italian restaurant. Had a Saturday night reservation for party of 8. Seated right away. Valet parking was great given location. The ambiance is old school with checkered table clothes. Service excellent. Waiter Joe has been there 47 years. We wanted to love this place. The complimentary salad was great. Fresh and tossed at table. The bread was not warm and too chewy. Prices are really fair given portion size and area. We had the meatball and shrimp scampi appetizers that were the stars of the show. Delish. Most got the chicken parm entree that honestly lacked flavor, this but chicken was a bit overcooked. Pasta was not home made. Chicken balsamic dish and chicken rollatini had more flavor. Coffees and drinks were average. Tiramisu great dessert. Service was not rushed. It’s a hassle to get to this spot with all the traffic. It was good, average Italian American food but not a go back.
