As a loyal Nikko customer for almost 30 years, it pains me to write this negative review. An incident occurred between a waitress and myself (as well as the manager) that insure that I will never set foot in the restaurant again. For years, I would always pay my bill mostly with cash with the rest being paid with a credit card. I never had any problems in doing so. This time, I had given the waitress a $50 bill to pay towards a total bill of $68, with the remaining balance to be paid on a credit card. I signed off on the remaiming $18 assuming that everything was Ok. Apparently, the waitress lost the $50 bill that i gave her, yet still charged the card for the remaining $18 of the balance due, which on it's face, doesn't make any sense. The next time I came to the restaurant, the manager accused me of underpaying my bill by exactly $50, and guilted me into repaying the the $50 bill that was lost in the previous transaction. As someone who has spent thousands of dollars at this restaurant over decades and has always loved the food, it soured me to my very core. As a Whippany resident who has to drive past this restaurant on a daily basis, I will only remember this place with contempt every time I see it. I will discourage anyone I know from going here.

One of the best places to get good sushi. They have a great selection and good drinks too. I always enjoy myself here. Just be careful walking from the parking lot to the restaurant in the dark. It’s not well lit and there isn’t a side walk. Cars pulling in or out won’t be able to see you.

Been coming here since 2006 when they opened, it was always one of the best local places for sushi and rolls. It has become way over priced with portions smaller. diameter of the rolls 1/3 less.Ika squid appetizer is about half the size it was pre covid, $11 nikko roll was 5 pieces size of a 25 cent quarter with mostly chewy skin. disappointing and this isn’t a one off experience. COVID really changed this place and they haven’t come back.

Not only is the sushi terrific, the servers are totally on the ball, kind, thoughtful and they get the order correct every time. This restaurant is excellent on a consistent basis over a number of years.

As far as customer service goes I give it a two out of 10. The food was okay but when you're eating sushi or sashimi and the only thing you taste is the vegetables and none of the fish that usually means they're going on the cheap side. All tasted fresh but overall way overpriced for what it was I will not be back.
So dirty. The rugs. The glasses. I was really looking forward to it but I was very disappointed.

This place is very special. First off, lychee martinis, yes! Lol. Second of all, this place felt so authentic and also the fish tasted so fresh. We ordered Gyu Tataki which was our appetizer. However, they gave a lot of sliced beef! We loved it but we were getting full hahaha. Great app to share. Delicious too! Momichi, which was an amazing roll. I recommend trying it because the flavors were unreal. I couldn't get enough. The white dragon was my next favorite roll. The fish tasted so fresh, Honestly, I never think of that because I just love food haha but this roll made me realize the freshness of fish. Delicious! We also have the pikachu and tuna special. They were yummy but didn't stand out as much as the other two. I'm definitely gonna go again and try more. Can't wait.

We had a rather poor experience at Nikko. The servers were rushing us along, constantly eyeing our plates and coming by and giving us looks. They were also speaking about us in Mandarin, thinking we could not understand, and even commented on the tip I left them (20%).Second, the food was simply not very good, not very Japanese, not nearly fresh enough, and very pricy considering what we got.

We have been here many many times for lunch/dinner. Overall the quality of the food and service was good. We mostly ordered sashimi dishes and some sushi. The ingredients were fresh; and there were ample selections. Service was friendly, especially knowing that the majority of the wait staff and the sushi chef were 60+ and having worked here for 15+ years already. They know their customers. The only downside was their wine/sake policy. We cannot bring our own sake. But the sake selection was limited. The ones that the restaurant carried only came in small size.
