Yama Sushi is hands down one of my favorite sushi spots! The fish is always incredibly fresh, and every roll is beautifully made with great attention to detail. The menu has a perfect mix of classic favorites and creative specialty rolls, so there’s always something new to try.

The staff is warm, attentive, and makes you feel right at home. The atmosphere is cozy yet modern—perfect for a casual lunch or a nice dinner out. If you love sushi, you’ll absolutely want to add Yama Sushi to your list!

I absolutely loveeeeeeee maki !!! Not only is the food always fresh and delicious, the owner who is a good friend to me, is so friendly and welcoming. He truly enjoys watching people enjoy his master pieces. He knows my order as soon as I walk in! NOW THATS GREAT SERVICE!! His staff is great and the environment is all around super chill and laid back. Always playing the hits and always has a smile on his face. 15/10 recommend.. and if you disagree you are not it :)

Amazing place with great food! Two gentlemen running the place taking orders and preparing food so be patient. Just by being here once I can tell some of these bad reviews are just ridiculous people. We sat next to this older couple and they were extremely rude to the staff saying they ordered something when we even heard them say nevermind and they tried gaslighting the staff. Treat people with respect. Definitely will come again! Atmosphere was nice could use some remodeling and painting but overall amazing experience

I am always in search of quality sushi. This little unassuming ( albeit 4.8 google rating) sushi joint as I like call them, in Habrouck Heights exceeded expectations. In an area that has a lot, I mean a lot of sushi joints that usually disappoint...Maki Sushi was a win for the good guys. Started off with the big three..nigiri. the tuna was deep red..and tender...we up graded to salmon belly..which was silky and fatty at the same time. The yellowtail had that unmistakable YT richness that only about 1/3 of sushi joints invest in.

Nit much of a roll person but the rolls were great...tuna/avocado with tuna and tobiko on top. Big tuna inside, big avocado too. We also had a Crunchy Tuna roll..spiced tuna with spicy Kani on top. Very nice. I also noted the rolls are riced with precision, not too much, letting the ingredients shine.

Let my research of joints payoff for you..try Maki Sushi.

Here’s a story. Last week we went to eat at Oishi sushi 2 blocks away from this Maki sushi restaurant. The food there was so bad, the katsu was cold and soggy. After that we were walking just to check some other places. We found Maki, and we were like let’s try it next week because they have 4.8 stars in google. I guess you can’t rely on google reviews too. So here we are, I ordered the same one pork katsu. My gosh…these people don’t know how to make katsu. It was hard and dry like a cardboard. I ate a little bit, the waiter said we will give you a free roll. I said no, I am here for katsu. If I was the owner or manager whatever. I will give you at least 20% off from your check just to say sorry for what you badly served. But no, they didn’t, no customer service at all. Not that I want them to give me a discount. You should just used common sense. When you served bad food, customer should not pay the full price or not pay at all. The same thing as Oishi sushi, even they give me free food never again. I’m not being prejudice of other Asians who likes to make Japanese food. If you imitate Japan at least study, or learn how to make it. And by the way when we came in I can smell a burning old oil. I’m just wondering do they change oil in their deep fryer? I felt like stinging in my eyes and start tearing. I told the waiter and he gave me a smirk.

Heaven for sushi lovers.. this quaint little sushi place has the freshest ingredients and great service. I could literally eat the spicy Kani salad everyday for the rest of my life and be satisfied. The sushi tasted even better than it looked. You could tell that the owners took pride in the quality and freshness of their fish. If you're looking for a new sushi spot or even if you're not I recommend checking this spot out.
