The Sandbox at Seastreak Beach

Don’t make the mistake of ordering pizza. The very uninterested staff tells you it will take 20 minutes. At the 25 minute mark they say “oh, like 20-25 more minutes. They have no boxes, so I had to leave the pizza to catch a boat. Even though $20 won’t break me, I am starving and you should always tell the truth about timing when it is a commuter boat dock bar/beach.

We had a great time here! Plenty of seats and so laid back. We had a drink and sat by the water. Later we ordered a pizza and sat and listened to the band play. So fun!

❤️ Overview:
Came here in the late afternoon with a group of people and got two tables with umbrellas luckily! We got drinks, got food from the food trucks, and chatted! Super fun atmosphere with the live music and of course being on the beach. It was nice to be able to walk around in the sand with no shoes.

We decided to drive from the city, but if you don’t have a car or want to drive, you can take the Seastreak ferry straight to the Sandbox! Which is super convenient and neat!

Definitely a cool spot, but the "security" opened our toddlers sippy cup, shoved their nose in it and smelled it because, quote "you can never be too sure" about bringing in alcohol. We dont need strangers breathing into our kids sippy cup's. That was after they patted us down.. Big turn off.

I've only been so far for the free bingo/trivia nights, but loving it so far!

Bad quality beach, poor quality drinks, overpriced. Ordered a cocktail that was advertised to have vodka, but the bartender did not put any vodka in.

Be prepared to be thoroughly searched by a teenager at the door.. I'm talking TSA level search.. the young lady opened up my small 5 oz containers and stuck her nose in them.. handled and thoroughly inspected all my personal belongings that were clearly not alcoholic.. she wasn't wearing gloves... At the least it's a ridiculously gross intrusion of your privacy.. I'm betting they're violating civil rights laws.. yea.. imagine the level of intrusion to make this upset.. as a member of the NY law enforcement community I fully appreciate the businesses right to search your belongings.. but this is really next level by individuals not qualified to perform these types of illegal searches. A great of example of a business being run be individuals that don't know how to run this type of business. The place is actually nice, somewhat, at least when they play live music. Just be prepared to be strip searched on a Tuesday afternoon at 2pm with a stroller and a baby in an almost empty establishment lol.. oh AND I had to buy 2 water bottles at $6 to replace the ones they literally stuck their nose in. BIG THUMBS DOWN ? l want my money back... Look for weapons.. look for alcohol bottles and respect American citizens constitutional privacy. Am I asking for too much?? Keep in mind this isn't a fancy bar in Brooklyn, it's just a random offshoot from a boat ferry company. However, it's a great spot for kids and families. Just prepare like you're traveling for an international flight lol

Awesome spot with access to the water! There’s typically a band playing and food trucks outside. I highly recommend buying their mug!
