French bakery? Say no more—I’m in. The pastries are good., and this café had the potential to be a place we’d come back to often. We really want to support small, local businesses like this.
However, when the owners aren’t around, like today, things really slip. It used to be good, but now it feels different.
On our last visit, 8:30 am, only one person was running everything—cashier, coffee, and food prep. The menu blackboards were even on the floor, and customers had to step behind the counter to read them. During the busy morning commute, service was painfully slow. Our two simple sandwiches (ham and avocado) weren’t started until everyone in line ahead of us had been served coffee or pastries, which meant 50 minutes from arrival to the food.
The café could have promise, but the staffing and service setup need serious attention to match the quality of the food. My last visit was today.
50 minutes even for a sit down restaurant is not a good approach to attract or retain customers. Specially when 2 sandwiches and a coffee rings about $38.
The young lady prepping,serving and tending the sales was nice. Felt bad for how overwhelming this was for her with 10+ people coming in.

From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warmth and genuine hospitality that makes you feel like family. Their passion for French baking shines through in every detail—from the elegant pastry displays to the cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The *kouign-amann* is rich, flaky, and absolutely addictive. You can tell everything here is crafted with care and love. Pierre and Marybeth have not just opened a bakery—they’ve built a community. If you’re anywhere near Hillsdale, this is a must-visit spot.

This is by far the BEST French bakery I have ever experienced. First off, the food is amazing. You walk in the door and you are greeted by the smell of goodness before you even speak to anyone. Next, the array of scrumptious goodies are on display beckoning you to forget that you have weight-loss goals. I have tried cakes, macaroons, and crepes, but my guilty pleasure since I started coming here, is their warmed croissants and their spinach/tomato quiche. If I happen to get there late and they're out of quiche, it puts a real damper on my day.LOL They all know this about me. Everyone there is great, and they actually get to know their customer's likes. If you're looking for a quaint and delicious place to eat, give them a shot. You won't regret it.

Le Carre was so helpful in preparing the favors for my baby sprinkle. They patiently spoke to me multiple times to finalize a vision, customized a box for me, and even let me sample the macarons before the final order submission. Truly the best French bakery!

The macarons are so good! My favorites are the pistachio and lavender.
Le Carré makes some of the most incredible pastries I’ve ever had. Along side the pastries, they have a wide variety of French macarons (all of which are also incredible), muffins, cookies, and plenty of other bakery items I’ve yet to try. Out of all the deserts I have tried, the chocolate chip cookies are my favorite (and the absolute best cookie I’ve ever had). They are not only massive, but full of delicious chocolate chips and the perfect amount of salt. The service is great and very helpful when I have trouble picking from all the great options! I’ll be back soon!!!

The food is OK, even though quite authentically French. What has triggered me to write a review, though, was a discrepancy between the displayed price and the price the cash register sums up. When I pointed that out to the cashier, they mentioned that the price would only become correct if I paid by cash(*), which I did - but despite reading the corrected price, they still charged 2.50 for a herbal tea when the displayed price was 1.85. Not a big difference, but a disrespect to the customer. It has to improve. (*) the surcharge for paying with credit happens in other places, but normally there is plenty of notification... and in this case, there was none.

The crepes too oily, she used oil spray instead real butter, only two flavors options; sorry but these food aren’t french at all. The pastry were like Paris Baguette (Korean store) trying to copy real french pastries, quality and taste bad and on the top of it expensive . Bunch of teens working there (good for them getting easy money), carton plates and plastic utensils.
