Recently dined here again. Food was excellent! Decided to try a lamb dish and loved it. This is one of my Hoboken favorites. Live music, friendly staff, good wine selection.

Subpar brunch. We ordered the shashouka the eggs were fully cooked through and not poached. We also ordered the french toast which was better but nothing out of the ordinary. Will pass on this restaurant in the future.

We love coming here with our friends for a nice dinner. The food is always very fresh and well made. They have an extensive drink list. Highly recommend any of the items on the menu because I haven’t had anything I don’t like.

Went for a birthday dinner with my family. I’m Moroccan born and I enjoyed the food. Loved the chicken bastilla and the couscous was good, though the lamb was a bit dry. Great friendly service and pleasant atmosphere.

Great brunch offering. The lamb meatball and steak are very delicious.
great service. The girl who served out table was great and tried to accommodate special request from us. Very nice!

The food was great, and the jazz started! It's a little out of the way. When I went for dinner, it was pretty empty, just a few tables.

Unique spot. Very cool decor. I just wish it wasn’t so darn expensive. Food is pretty good. The wine list is weak, expensive, and small pours. More of a once in a while spot rather than one to put in the rotation imo.

Just want to give a shoutout to one of my favorite restaurants in Hoboken.

Ate at Barbes last night, and as always, the staff was incredibly friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable about French/Moroccan food. The food was excellent too, and the atmosphere was wonderful with live music.

5 stars across the board.

We had a great night at Barbès. The food was solid, the drinks were alright, but the service was the best part.

Ryan was our server and was quite intuitive with his attentiveness. He was great about being there when we needed him, and great about giving us space when we wanted it without us having to let him know. He was also thoughtful with placing extra ice on our table after we commented about how hot the day was. Great, friendly service

I've been going to this place for several years, but the last two times I've been served by a young waiter, and I've felt really bad about his pedantic and rude attitude. I don't think he should be serving there. He's going to run his customers away.

Beautiful atmosphere. But very slow service (53 minutes from when we were seated to food). And we found the shakshuka, moullet, and mac & cheese all disappointingly bland.

Beautifully decorated with a spacious, grand interior and a lovely outdoor area. The menu leans HEAVILY on Mediterranean cuisine, particularly Algerian, though the branding presents it as French—which seems more about attracting a certain crowd than reflecting the actual food… Considering the menu is 70% Mediterranean dishes, but I get it, adding French to a restaurant sells.. Especially if the owners & staff speak French but are Algerian.

The dishes are ok… but noticeably VERY overpriced. For example, their Pastilla au lait is essentially thin fried pancakes—and at $12, it feels excessive. The couscous which in Northern African culture is traditionally associated with the people’s food and the food that is served in big parties (American’s version of pizza) is $22.. just a bit much for grains and mixed vegetables if you ask me…

That said, their weekend entertainment is a highlight. Overall, it's an interesting place to check out once, but not one I’d return to….

Lamb was terrible, overcooked, tasteless, dry and old. Same with halibut, plus it was hard.
Hummus was not bad.

Service was well meaning, but confused and slow.
