Most amazing pastries I've had in forever. Get the Choco pan warmed up And you will be a happy person. Flackey and creamy. We got so many pastries from here, my inner kid is soooo big from this place 💕

Was a Subtle Place to go around and had a fantastic French Cozy Vibe with a absolute cocoa smell with the free crossoint trials. Can't get better for a Breakfast or a Brunch.

It always saddens me a bit to leave a harshly critical review, but possibly Choc O Pain could offer vegan options alongside regular ones, as dietary restrictions are a significant factor for many customers.

During the holidays, I expect a level of professionalism and reliability from businesses, since it’s the time of the year where customer service goes a long way. Unfortunately, my recent experience at the Hoboken location of Choc O Pain fell short of this reliability, and showed the lack of training of their employees.

I discovered a pre-order option on their website, which allowed me to reserve vegan versions of their pastries (conveniently not offered same-day for patrons who have dietary restrictions or milk allergies). I placed an online pick-up order, told I had a 48-hour turnaround time.

Upon arriving at the bakery, at my scheduled pick-up window, I was informed that they were unable to fulfill my order. Despite providing the email, date, and name associated with the order, the associate requested the order number, which they then manually recorded on paper.

This was done in front of their Toast CRM system, for which I paid a 3% card fee, presumably to facilitate such lookups and EASY resolutions to failings of the establishment. I was subsequently told that a refund would be issued once the order was located, a process that could have been avoided entirely by not making the trip to and from the bakery, or spending my money there at all.

The lack of communication regarding my non-existent order is really annoying. Anyone with holiday plans with other people in their life understands the frustration of telling your dietarily restricted family “hey I’m grabbing the thing we ordered especially for you” and go to pick that up the day after a major holiday, only to be offered a refund as a resolution.

10/10 learning opportunity for Choc O Pain French Bakery and Café

This is the longest review I’ve left this year, and having been a long-time resident of Hoboken and a previous patron of this bakery, I believe my personal customer journey today serves as a valuable learning experience for the upcoming busiest month of the year. I urge Choc O Pain French Bakery and Café - HOB 1st St. to improve their operations and look into checking in on their online-ordering process, and staff training before the new year, because they clearly know how to do SEO.

Possibly the business could consider offering vegan options alongside regular ones, as dietary restrictions are a significant factor for many customers.

After receiving a call from the manager after they came in for the day we will wait another 48 hours for a replacement order. Regrettably, I will not be updating my review, and this experience has left me hesitant to return.

Dietary restrictions: Can only order vegan pastries 2 days in advance, but business is not always reliable with producing dietarily restricted options.

Nice coffee place, they have breakfast options and desserts as well. If you dine in they have a second floor, which is more spacious, quiet and very cute.

Parking: Most of the time I am able to find street parking just by cafe, but sometimes you have to circle around

Very nice cafe. The Latte was really good (very foamy). We had the Madeleine and they were a great choice if you want something small. The music is nice and not loud. Inside and outside sitting (but outside is very small). Definitely come by if you are around.

Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs but the entry might be a bit challenging
