Reserved a table for 6, made it there early and got sat right next to the speakers when there were other tables and booths open. When we asked to be moved we were denied because the tables were “reserved”, but nowhere on the website or app are we given the option to reserve a booth or specific table. While we were there, a security guard racially discriminated against a friend because he was wearing a durag, the security guard literally had to walk past people with hats and beanies in order to reach my friend just to tell him to take the durag off multiple times. The main event Sean Kingston never showed up from the times that it was advertised 7-11:30pm, we even stayed one hour after and still no show. The nachos were only 18 and the we got 2 buckets of beer 30 each and a fishbowl, somehow that made bill come out to over 200! The waitress left us alone for hours and called us “weird” and wouldn’t stop pressing us for not tipping when we literally had the worst experience there. Overpriced food, overpriced drinks, racist security, bad service, false advertisements, WORST BAR, WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND .

We had some friends visiting from the Westcoast a few weeks ago and wanted to make sure we showed them a great time. It was their last night in town, and even though we had done a ton, we couldn’t let the last night go to waste. Living in Jersey City for 3 years, I honestly have never been out in Hoboken. I’m a 40+ hip-hop, R&B, old school vibe city girl. That’s not an easy find on this side of the Hudson, so we usually stick to NYC or BK. After coming back from the west village my boyfriend suggested we have a night cap and we stopped at Madd Hatter. It was a Sunday so it was chill, not crowded but still a small crowd.
We were greeted at the door and everyone was really friendly before seating us at a table just outside the dance floor. Our waitress Bailey came and got our drink orders right away. Once she learned the majority of us were visiting and we also had a birthday at midnight, she was more than accommodating!!!! She was THE BEST!! Always made sure drinks were filled, engaged and was so friendly. She even went out of her way to take pics and videos for us, truly made our impromptu stop here special!! I’m sure all the waitresses are great, but our girl Bailey was top tier and I would go back to this bar based on our experience with her alone. Thank you so much girl for making the night special.
At first the DJ was playing the music I would expect to hear in Hoboken, so no shade at all. A lot of fist pumping dance music. As a HUGE music lover, I can appreciate it all. Then he flipped the block and surprised us! I think he could sense what our group likes lol and he started to play some JAMS! Again there was not a huge crowd and we definitely stuck out as the life of the party so we really appreciated him switching it up a little and immediately were out of our seats dancing throughout every track he played. Shoutout to the DJ that Sunday, best part of the night!!!
Overall I was surprisingly impressed. I’m not sure if they have other nights that play old school or R&B/neo soul, but if not, it could be new opportunity to think about that could draw in new customers. Especially since it is hard to find over here. Maybe once a month Soulful Sundays lol Either way, I would recommend checking this spot out even if you think it’s not your typical vibe. The service and friendliness alone is hard to find these days and now more than ever, we need that with our fun.

The fresh squeezed orange juice in the mimosas was great. However, in the women’s bathroom, three out of the five stalls had broken doors and there was vomit in an open trash can in the stall.

I came here this Saturday for my friend's girlfriend 's Birthday, she came from out of town so I wanted to show her a good time, so I took her to my regular spot. Upon entering we waited in line longer than we ever had to do before, than we noticed half the bar was closed with tacky black drapery like they were hiding reconstruction??? We tried to get our favorite bartender to appease us but they looked like they were fighting for space to even make a drink on top of the fact that people were fighting in line to get to the bar altogether . Food I honestly loved but did not get a chance to impress my guest with because everything took so long to accommodate. I hope this was a fluke, if not the Mad Hatter fell down the rabbit hole and we ended up leaving seaking a better time. If this is how Maddd they are thinking we won't be back again !!!!!
