Young woman rude and didn’t want to make a simple accommodation/ substitute. Went across the street at Shaka Bowls and they did it with no problem.

Attended the Grand Opening for the New Smyrna Beach Location. It was very festive. The Bowls were delicious!
Santa and Penguin were here for the Grand Opening of the New Smyrna Beach Location! Got a free Bowl and a T Shirt!
The short woman (definitely not a lady) with glasses and accent was excessively impolite / rude which I completely tolerated. She was so rude that she literally threw the bag which had my bowl in it in front of me as if she was throwing a bone to a street dog. Plus, I guess how incapable she was of saying a simple “you’re wecome” or “of course”, she was not even capable of closing a lid that my bowl ended up the way in the pictures.

Love coming here, bowls are always fresh and plentiful for one person. Sometimes I wish the bowl was less crowded so I can mix it better. 😌 I’ll always be back!

The staff is friendly and bowls are my go to in town. The place itself can use a touch up. Besides that I love it.

I do the pickup order and is up front or directs you. No one offers help and I had to wait for the only girl working who was busy to notice . The poor girl was working by her self making smoothies while the other two I watched just talking and taking there time and gossiping. It was quiet in there with guest and all you can hear were the two girls in the back gossiping

Poor customer service, but good food
I frequent the Lafayette, LA location and have tried a variety of things and have never been disappointed. Juices are so delicious as are the bowls. My favorite treat.
I stopped into playa bowl on a weekday around lunchtime and ordered the large size of the standard acai bowl. I should have ordered the small because it was just straight up not good.
Acai should be a saturated dark purple color and have the texture of a fruit sorbet, and the bowl I got was purplish brown and mushy which tells me the acai was not fresh. The economy is tough, I get it, but when I’m paying >$18 for an acai bowl I expect it to be worth that amount of money.
Also - the cashier seemed like they hated their life (which is valid, whatever) but I didn’t enjoy having them hovering directly over me as the iPad prompted me to tip. Like seriously, they were just looking down at the iPad as I was tipping.
I have had a much better acai bowl at Baya bar and would recommend people go there instead.
