went there saturday of thanksgiving weekend and they didn’t have the heat on. it was freezing inside. service was friendly but super slow, drinks weren’t the best, food was okay. i’m not really sure what this place’s deal is.

If you’re looking for a place to test your patience, this is it! We waited over an hour for our food, and the place wasn’t even that full. The waitress was sweet (bless her heart), but nothing can make up for waiting that long for a simple meal. Maybe next time they’ll serve the food before breakfast… the next day. Definitely not coming back.

Unfortunately had such an awful experience that I had to write a review! I made my reservation days in advance, and called 2 hours before to update the number of people from 4 to 3. At the very end of the call, the host casually throws in, “oh by the way, you’ll be sitting outside.”
Outside, in the middle of October, with no space heaters. The manager couldn’t have cared less and was extremely condescending - I asked why I was only finding out about this now on a Friday night, and his response was, “I guess that’s just how it works when you book online.” I also asked him if all the customers who made reservations online knew they were sitting outside in 50 degree weather, he said … no, i guess not!
I had a much more pleasant experience at Sushi Lounge - and the food is much better too! Saku unfortunately had no respect with my experience, no sense of accountability, and apparently no idea how to manage reservations.

Got the specialty rolls. Not bad but not great. Not really worth the price I’ve definitely had way better. The place is really cute tho

Took 40 minutes to have someone take our order and then over an 1 hour 20 min total to get our food. Food tasted great and fresh but portions were very small. Went to a pizza place after because we were so hungry. Had to watch a table that came after us order, get drinks, and their food all before our table. Not only this but we were placed in the darkest part of the restaurant so our eyes strained just trying to read the poorly printed menu. Only gave 2 rolls menu to a table of 6 people. If you are here with more than 2 people do not come. Much better places in Hoboken that are worth the value.

I used to go to Saku all the time. However I won’t be dining there again after the way the manager spoke to me. I had a reservation for 5 people at 6pm for my birthday that was set days in advance. As we’re getting to ready to head to the restaurant I just happen to check my email. They sent me an email the same day canceling the reservation.
I called to see what was going on, they put me on the phone with the manager. The manager said they were booked for a private party and all reservations were canceled. When I asked him why they accepted the reservation in the first place and why it was such late notice if they knew they had an event, he became very rude and irritated, proceeded to blame me for not checking my email earlier in the day.
He then sarcastically said “have a nice night, bye!” And hung up. What a way to treat a repeat customer. To be clear, I wasn’t expecting them to seat us anyway. If they’re closed for a private event then it is what it is, however my issue was the late notice and the managers horrible attitude towards the whole thing. Not worth spending their prices to get treated like that.

The host named Nick was very accommodating to me when I had to call in and ask about reservations, rescheduling times and asking questions about tables. He kept a professional tone, and was able to handle all of that during busy hours.
The food was of great quality, I particularly enjoyed the miso soup and the nigiri sushi, of which I enjoyed; maguro, ikura and hamachi. Though my only complaints would be about the quality of drinks, I’d expect more for a restaurant such as this.

This place is a must for sushi! Probs the best in all of hoboken. The purple rain roll & spicy cauliflower app are AMAZING! get the grapefruit beer too - it’s perfect with the sushi. the staff is nice and attentive. It’s not a place to go if you are in a rush, honestly expect a 2hour meal minimum. Little pricy, but worth it!

Great sushi. The specialty rolls were all a 10/10. Crispy Rice and Avocado fries were amazing too. Cocktails were delicious

The host was not very helpful or accommodating. Very disappointing. We almost walked out! Our server (Jenny?) however was absolutely delightful and our meal was just delicious!
Took my son here and we had a great time. The sushi was fresh and solid, and there was a musical duo playing live—which added a fun vibe to the night. No complaints at all. The only reason I hesitate to give it a full five stars is because we’ve been to some truly exceptional sushi spots that set the bar really high. That said, for Hoboken, this place is a standout. Definitely worth checking out.
