My friend and I ordered the fries and wings off the small plates menu. Both items were incredibly soggy when I feel like they are staples that should be hard to mess up. Fries felt like they were baked instead of fried? Or fried but had been sitting for a long time before serving. Trying to be fair, we ordered takeout and did not realize they wouldn’t text us when food was ready so maybe it had been sitting waiting for a truly long time.

The male bartender was extremely rude & condescending. Living in Asbury Park & loving Cardinal, I had high hopes, but was sorely disappointed by our abysmal first impression at the bar. A 25% gratuity added to the bill only made the visit more unappetizing.

We’ve been visiting Mabel since the outdoor bar opened this summer, anxiously awaiting the completion of the restaurant space. We finally made it last Friday, and then went a second time in less than a week, if that tells you something. The space is perfection, somehow homey and inviting despite being in an industrial building. The menu is top notch, there’s something for everyone. To start, the cocktails are not to be missed - special love for the Swandive! And I have on good authority that the Miniature Tiger is an excellent winter drink while we wait for the Coco Daq to return for summer (hint, hint). For me, personally, the strip steak au poivre was melt in my mouth perfection. The pork Milanese was a winner and my wife loved it. We also had one of the pasta dishes and it did not disappoint (I may have snagged the leftovers at home before my wife could). The desserts are 1000% worth saving room for. Overall, 10/10, will return. May already have brunch rezzies booked for the weekend.

Decor is cute; we only stopped in for drinks to check it out, as we are familiar with the other restaurants in the portfolio. Recognized the bartender from Asbury Park (heavier set, beard, glasses). Service was very slow; an older gentleman came and sat down and asked the bartender some food-related questions. He was rude to the older gentlemen, stating things like 'well, the hamburger will take as long as the eggs. Behind this wall, there are 50 people seated at tables and the kitchen is backed up.' Just no real customer service. We closed out our drinks, and I received the device to sign and pay. Considering the amount of time it took to get us our drinks, along with the lack of friendliness, 20% was not in mind. There was an automatic gratuity (two people! seated at the bar!) of 25% on there. I asked what that was, he looked at me smuggly and said 'it automatically comes out of the system, I don't know how to fix it. Is it ok?' in a strange voice and kind of shrugged. I was so speechless and taken aback, I just signed it and left. Will not be back. Cardinal Provisions owners - do better please,

Blown away by this secret gem. Food, drinks and service was superb, so much so, we cancelled reservations for a birthday dinner and made plans to come back here. This is a “sister” restaurant to Cardinal in Asbury, and IYKYK. Order the mushroom sandwich!!!!

Though I got stuck in conversation and didn't photo all the food. We ordered most of the menu with our table, everything was great. I want to highlight the beef tartar, pulpo (octopus)the meat balls, as a basically carnivore eater these were fantastic. The ladies were all over the cheese board!!!

Do not miss the pasta, we ordered it as a course between apps and entrees which was amazing. I'm a sucker for rigatoni which was fire 🔥.

The mains we ordered them all, and sides, everything was delicious, I personally had the half chicken and burger and split both with my wife which were outstanding.

Everything was fairly priced, designed to eat at often, the kitchen crushed it. Looking forward for continuous visits.

Mabel at Bell Works is a gem! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the stunning decor—it’s modern, elegant, and has such a welcoming vibe. The food was absolutely incredible, with every dish perfectly prepared and full of flavor. The drinks were a standout—delicious, creative, and expertly crafted. Reasonably priced.

What truly sets Mabel apart is the staff. Everyone was so polite, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about my experience. It’s rare to find a place where service, food, and ambiance come together so perfectly, but Mabel nailed it.

Highly recommend checking it out—this is a place you’ll want to keep coming back to!
