My wife and I are on the #eatjersey challenge to have a meal in all 564 towns of NJ. We chose The Hopatcong Diner for Hopatcong, our 128th town.
Dessert is a meal, and that's what we had here at the diner! Jersey diners are known for their large dessert cases with oversized cakes and all sorts of delicious pastries.
We enjoyed some coffee & tea along with Apple Pie w/vanilla ice cream and a piece of Flan.

The service was poor, my server never came around to refill my soda and I never took away my soup bowl. The meatballs were so full of gristle I had to struggle with every bite.

Must be a change in hand cause this place a bit dirty. I was lil disturbed by that!
Food is good. Owner puts a lot of effort into generating business. Updates menus, food and drinks products. It is kind of an old place. An oldie but a goodie.

The place wasn't very clean. There was a fly in our sugar container, creamers had clumps and the waitress seemed overly distracted, even though there was only one other table.

My brother-in-law suggested this place as it was down the street from where they were staying. I was expecting a bigger diner so I put all my judgement aside by looking at it. Our waitress was a total flake and never came to see how our food was. Quesadilla was very greasy and pancakes were oily. Gave the kids coloring books that other people used and gross sticky crayons.

Lunch - was just right.We all ate from the office and the owner - Joe was attentive , food on point and cooked just right.A veggie , a meat eater and a starving crew enjoyed french onion soup, matzah ball soup and the winner chicken noodle.Next round was the blue cheese burger , Salad with veggies tacos and so much more.Staff was great , food was A++ and plenty of parking for 4 people.We will be back - thank you, H. Diner.
Dietary restrictions: We all had different needs and vegetarian was met , medium rare meat was achieved .
