Ever since we saw the name of the place - we wanted to try it & finally we are really happy to have made it hear . The saoji goat curry & thay sol kadhi is something we will keep coming back to. We would also love to try the thaali someday. The food , the taste, the ambience , the overall experience & even the parking experience - everything made us pat on our back for finding this place. It has an elevator too - so its easy from people with strollers or wheel chairs will find it easy too.
By the way all the people are extremely helpful & warm ; special mention of Joe - for the great conversation .

Need to revise the hours online. Closes at 3. (Edited) Got lucky the second time, they let us in. Curries are amazing. Vada pav seemed refried and not great. Drinks are amazing. The waiter was very rude, and kept rushing us to order.

Highly Disappointed 😡 | Unprofessional Experience at Nagpuri Saoji

I had met the owner of Nagpuri Saoji in Manhattan, who personally invited me to try his restaurant, saying “Come visit my place sometime.” After a long time, I finally decided to go — with high expectations — along with three friends.

We arrived 10 minutes before closing, not after. It was a long weekend, and we were four young, hungry customers who simply wanted a quick dinner. We even told the staff we’d happily settle for just rice and chicken/goat curry, and that we wouldn’t take more than 20 minutes.

However, the moment we walked in, one of the employees rudely told us we can’t dine in, with zero courtesy or hospitality. He pretended to “check with the chef,” walked inside for barely two minutes, and came back with the same answer — as if the decision had already been made before even trying. 🙄

This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable in the service industry. When customers take time out of their busy schedules, travel to your restaurant with expectations — especially after being personally invited by the owner — they at least deserve a respectful interaction and some flexibility.

👎 Nagpuri Saoji, this is a BIG NO from me.
As a Level 6 Google Reviewer, I’ve dined at countless places across the city, and rarely have I seen such an unprofessional and dismissive attitude toward customers.

If you do not allow dine-in after a certain time, then clearly mention your “Last Dine-In” cutoff on Google or at the restaurant entrance. Don’t mislead people with your listed closing time and then turn them away at the door.

This was my first and last visit here. Totally disappointed and would not recommend this place to anyone. ❌

Great Maharashtrian restaurant in Edison with great food and a vast menu to choose from
There's something for everyone whether you are into vegetarian, non vegetarian, a full thali/meal or just a snack to get you nostalgic they have it all !

We tried the saoji chicken and missal pav along with sol kadi, and everything was excellent
Would recommend if you want to try nagpuri Maharashtrian food and get a different taste going vs the usually option mejwani which is also known for Maharashtrian food :)

Happy to have a proper Maharastrian food restaurant in NJ and seeing it flourish! Sabudana vada, puran poli and solkadi were the highlights for me, but all food items (vegetarian) we ordered were fresh and delicious. Also appreciate that the seating and ambience are comfortable and pleasant which is usually ignored at many Indian restaurants.

Tried Nagpuri Saoji in Edison after driving 80miles
Starters were solid (masala papad, fried pomfret, chicken sukkha). Veg Kolhapuri and chapati were good, kala rassa chicken was decent but not fully authentic, and the bhakri felt more like a thick chapati. Garlic rice hit the spot.
Drinks :- mukhwas old fashion - bit on sweeter side , Alphonso spirit - not worth it.

Takeout standouts: poha tarri (flavorful but missing the heat) and Malwani surmai (outstanding—best dish of the night though being an entree it came with only 1 piece of fish )

Overall: tasty food, different from the usual Indian restaurants, but not fully original Saoji. Worth a stop if you’re nearby, not worth a long drive.

We are from Nagpur and are very familiar with authentic Nagpuri food and spices. Unfortunately, the food here did not meet our expectations. It didn’t taste fresh, and the flavors were not what we associate with true Nagpuri cuisine. If you’re looking for real Nagpuri taste, this might not be the right

Well, first time I tried whole pomphret Fish and it was excellent. The next time I tried the Saoji goat curry, and while the curry was good, there was not even one single goat piece that had meat on it. Everything was bone. Disappointed second time.

We had a wonderful lunch experience today with my family. The food was absolutely delicious – we tried the Chicken Thali, Malvani Fish Thali, Chicken Tandoori Momos, komdi Wada, Misal Pav, and Surmai Fry – and everything was cooked perfectly with authentic flavours.
A special mention to Joe, who took our order and served us with great care. His service was friendly, quick, and attentive, making our visit even better.
Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for tasty, authentic food with excellent hospitality. We will definitely be coming back!
