I visited Fuji in Lacey around 5:30 PM on a weekday, and sadly, this will be my last time dining there. I used to eat here often and always looked forward to it, but the quality has gone downhill while the prices have climbed significantly.
For our meal, we ordered a Spicy Shrimp Roll, a Boston Roll, and three hibachi entrees (chicken, steak, and shrimp). The sushi was disappointing. While the presentation was beautiful, the taste was heavy and lacked the fresh, vibrant flavors I expect from good sushi. I barely touched mine because it just didn’t sit right.
As for the hibachi, we chose to sit at a regular table instead of the grill, hoping for a quieter night, but the food missed the mark. My hibachi meal was overly greasy, which made it feel more like takeout than fresh, delicious hibachi. The others at my table enjoyed their meals initially, but later on, they felt uncomfortably full and sluggish, which really dampened the experience.
The service, as usual, was just okay. There’s always been a slight language barrier with the staff, which isn’t a big deal, but it didn’t add much to the experience. The restaurant was also completely empty, so we weren’t rushed, but something about the atmosphere felt lackluster.
The final bill for two sushi rolls, three hibachi meals, two waters, one soda, and a small scoop of ice cream was well over $100. Given the poor quality of the food, the price felt completely unjustified.
Fuji used to be a place I looked forward to visiting, but it’s clear that things have changed. It’s unfortunate because I have great memories of eating here, but I can no longer recommend it. I hope they improve, but for now, I’ll be looking elsewhere for fresh, high-quality sushi and hibachi.

There are three things I would like to mention.
1)The food was great. But with that said. My wife had a vegetarian grilled entree, had hardly any vegetables, and very little rice, Basically My wife portion was very small, compared to everyone else's.
2) TRYING to get a refill on your drink was almost impossible. We had
To get another person from another table, that was setting up next to us to get our drinks.
3) Finally, enclosing food was fantastic. The atmosphere was energetic. If you can just work on the finner details that I mentioned, I would have given a 5 🌟 instead of a 4 🌟 on service.

The food here is always spot on awesome. The service is frustratingly slow. And sometimes an English language barrier thing. My sushi appetizer while sitting at the hibachi table has arrived as the cook is putting hibachi rice and noodles on my plate. I'd say once is a fluke. But 3 out of 3 times this happened for me. I still will recommend this place for the fantastic food. But I'm being generous with the 2 stars for service.

For the first time we had to wait about 30 minutes past our reservation. They only had 2 Hibachi chefs that night and ours didn't speak English so ordering was difficult.
I also feel like they need to invest into a renovation. It's dated.
Kid-friendliness: They offer specialty sodas and treats for kids.

We are so fortunate to have a great hibachi and sushi place in this town. I recommend the shrimp tempura and gyoza. Every item on the menu is amazing, and the staff are always willing to accommodate your needs. They were also able to help out with my daughter's birthday by providing Japanese soda and chop sticks.
Exquisite and very respectful, amazing place
