Stopped in for breakfast with my elderly grandmother, who uses a wheelchair, and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating. They immediately found us a table that made her dining experience more comfortable, which I really appreciated.

The overall atmosphere of the Jefferson Diner is warm and inviting, with a classic diner look and a large menu that includes plenty of dietary options—always a plus. I ordered an orange juice, coffee, a crock of French onion soup, and a Reuben sandwich.

Most of the meal was solid—the coffee and Reuben were both satisfying, and everyone else at the table seemed happy with their dishes. The only miss for me was the French onion soup. It arrived with two slices of cheese draped over the top that were more burnt than melted. The broth, which I think is the heart of any French onion soup, lacked depth and tasted watered down. It was also topped with fried onion strands that ended up tough and stringy—not a great combination.

That said, I chalked it up to ordering soup early in the day and probably should’ve stuck with breakfast. Despite the soup, the service and overall experience were still positive enough that I’d definitely consider giving it another shot.

Dietary restrictions: They have gluten-free and vegan options.

Wheelchair accessibility: They are very accommodating for wheelchairs.

This was our second time visiting the Jefferson Diner. The first time was pretty good, so we decided to go back today. We were sorry we went. The waitress very conveniently forgot to bring my husband's soup and salad that came with his dinner. I guess they are cutting corners and figured we wouldn't care that we were paying for food we did not get. Very disappointed and will not go back. And, in response to the owner. She packed my husband brown gravy, not chicken soup. That is how she rectified the situation.

Great atmosphere in this 50's style diner. First time here and really liked their corn beef Reuben.

The food was okay. The service was excellent, everyone was very friendly and kind and our server was very attentive. Overall it was a good experience. Maybe it was an off day? I'd be willing to go back and try something else.

Terrible if i could give zero stars I would . The food they use is the worse quality . They force you to buy bottled water unless that changed . They wouldn’t give us tap water when we went a while back ; also when my co worker asked for ice it was like they didn’t even want to do that but did . I knew somebody who worked there and said the owners are jerks and tries to have employees push for the most expensive items on the menu . I was told they use the worst food. They should be glad with the economy they're getting business but instead are cheap and give you nothing , and over priced for poor quality food. People don’t realize if they never tried the place . Do yourself a favor save money and eat someplace else!

My friend and I had dinner there on Saturday and we have both been dealing with food poisoning symptoms since then (we ate pasta and a challah burger). I called the manager to bring it their attention and all she said was "We've never had incidents. There's a virus going around, you should check yourselves." I've never had food poisoning symptoms before until this weekend and what a coincidence that both my friend and I (who don't see each other on a daily basis) are dealing with it now. It's important to prioritize feedback and client's health especially if it is due to your negligence.

Worst Cobb salad I have ever gotten. Ordered this to take out. It was full of lettuce, a few pieces of turkey laying on top, 1 egg & red onion…..that’s it! No tomato. No cucumber. Nothing!

I ordered a bagel to go and asked for lox, tomato, and onion. I asked for a $5 bagel, which is ridiculous to begin with, and expected to pay slightly more for the requested options. They bait and switched me when I showed up to pick it up.

They gave me a platter of lox on top of salad greens, a dry bagel, and charged me $20 for the privilege of putting all the pieces together myself.

Wildly overpriced. They charge for WATER! And the food is on par with any other diner in the area. With so many diners in NJ, I'm certainly not willing to pay a premium because they were on TV a decade ago.

Edit: I asked for water, was brought a Poland spring bottle, and was charged for it. Was never offered a "free" option. Several review below me state the same. You can't sue for someone detailing their experience. Sorry you are such an unhappy person! See you in court I guess 🤷🏻

We sat on the front annex and it was freezing by the windows. Also, the bathroom was frigid.

Came here for some lunch with my daughter, food and staff is always great. Only thing I can say is that we sat near the entrance and the second door to come in was open so when people came in the restaurant we got a brisk of cold air coming at us.

I had a very bad experience tonight at this Diner I ordered the prime rib and a baked potato and vegetables the prime rib came out and it was all fat I could hardly cut it and the baked potato was hard I had to send it back in order something else this is supposed to be one of the top five diners in New Jersey and it's absolutely probably the worst diner I've eaten at in New Jersey I talked to the waiter and I said what can the kitchen not screw up and he said order potato chips with the hamburger when I reordered something else. When I talk to the manager about the prime rib he said that they need all that fat for the flavor on the meat
There was so much fat on it I couldn't cut it it was absolutely a terrible experience and I will never go to this Diner again
