My family and I spent the week in Lavalette and this was the first restaurant we ate at. The food was delicious and having a seafood store with the restaurant was super helpful - and reasonably priced! Highly recommended!
Kid-friendliness: There is a kids menu with non-seafood options, if needed, and the kids can color their placemat and your server will ask to have it hung up in the fish store.

This place feels like a diner, but the service and food are WONDERFUL! 10/10 Recommend! BYOB and has a very local feel. We were very well taken care of by our server Lynne and we will be back next time we are in the area. We had it all, oysters, shrimp, crab, lobster and steak. Everything was made with love ❤️

We got fried scallops and fried flounder. Maybe those weren't the right things to get there. Neither were crispy or tasty. The scallops were overcooked and chewy in the inside and not crisp on the outside. Generally that happens when the dryer isn't hot enough. Flounder seriously lacked flavor and was also not crispy. Place has a weird smell to it. But staff was nice and food was ready as promised.

We stopped here based on a recommendation by a friend. Everything we had was delicious, including calamari, a shrimp caesar wrap and caesar salad with grilled shrimp. Right from the welcome at the front door to the wait staff, everyone was very friendly. Obviously, as a seafood restaurant it will smell as such when you first walk in. Don't let that deter you, it's just upon initially entering and the food is worth it!

Runners a local Lavalette gem dishing out the best seafood in town.
Perhaps, not as well known as the Lavalette institution named after the appendage of a crustacean, but certainly superior when it comes to both service and the quality of the seafood being served.
The fried calamari is outstanding, lightly fired to tender perfection served with a sweet marinara.
The shrimp cocktail served with U16 flavorful and meaty shrimp and solid cocktail sauce.
The oysters were large, meaty, tender with a slightly briny sweetness. Delicious!
The lobster bisque is a buttery winner.
We followed with the soft shell crabs and the Jersey corn lobster roll, both delicious.
The soft shell crabs were meaty and perfectly executed. The lobster roll was filled with plenty of delectable lobster meat, including tail meat.
As a BYOB you gain the advantage of bringing what you wish to drink with your meal without paying the up charge premium.
They are on the smaller side, perhaps about 15 tables total. But what they lack in size they make up in flavor. They are also very family and kid friendly offering crayons to each child in the party to paint their heart out and possibly get their masterpiece hung up on their wall of fame.
Go pay a visit to Runners if you are in town, you will thank me later.

Charming charming seafood restaurant with takeout. Our food was delicious. We each had something different. We started off with the calamari, and house salad. Perfect! Entree portion sizes was enough to take home.
Service was on point. Our waitress and bus girl were very friendly. BYOB. Delish!

A Jersey Shore staple, Runners' conspicuous presence along Route 35N is easy to miss if you're a first timer. However stop in for dinner just one evening and you'll be sure to never miss it again. A seafood market by day, it's no surprise that every meal tastes ridiculously fresh.Portions are always generous and pricing is very fair; even sometimes seeming much cheaper than competing restaurants.I've yet to ever have a bad meal at Runners! And if the dining room is full one night, don't shy away from takeout! The food is always well prepared so you don't lose a bit of flavor when opening it up on your back deck during a cool summer evening.
Kid-friendliness: Vast selection of kid-friendly options that extends beyond just chicken fingers!
